Quick question, since I'm in the process of moving items to Boardman, Youngstown Ohio.. Anyone know the requirements for open flames and to own livestock? (like llamas)

I'm going to assume that you are actually in Boardman Township. If you are within Youngstown City limits, all bets are off. This is the township website. Zoning | Boardman Township If you can't find the info there stop in at the township building. I'm sure that they will take delight in telling you how to run your life. If you are coming from Pit, either 60 or the turnpike, head North on route 7. Cross over Western Reserve Rd. at the Sheetz. The next light is the new hospital at Mclurg Rd. The township building/ police station is just North of Mclurg on the right hand side. I thought I remembered you saying that you were close to Millcreek Park. I didn't think there was anything with enough land for llamas in that area. My brother has at least 30 llamas, and a new one due any day now, but he has over 10 acres. If Boardman is like Austintown, they allow fires for cooking. You just have to play the game. |

I have been working on cleaning off my land. I have a lot of dead pine trees to clear out, just trying to think about what I will do with the wood. Not a type of wood useful for burning in a fireplace, was thinking of burning it in an outdoor drum. Last edited by pghquest; 06-01-2008 at 06:41 PM. |

I reside in the Historic distrcit in Boardman....I am on the division of boardman and youngstown and there is alot going on in the area that doesn't seem to get any media attention. For 1 the libraray at the corner of midlothian blvd and Market st.. It is my understanding that all 4 corners (with the exception of the First Place Bank) were purchased for parking space will be paved and Mayor J told me in an email they are installing several dozen already half grown trees. That Sami's quickstop is on limited time just until they begin working on the parking lots. Also....the upper level of the First place Bank is going to be a police substation, which Boardman and youngstown share. It will be open 24/7 and will operate full capacity. That may be involved in that whole tax thing we've all been hearing about((The J.E.D.D. program)).As a contractor, I gotta say private investors are buying these houses up like crazy. WE did 80 rehab homes last year. 3 years ago we did maybe 5 houses that year. These investors are not dealing with banks-they pay cash, nor are they using real estate agents-they buy direct, which might be why the market is getting mixed information. Agents and banks might not be doing good, but real estate in Y-Town is being bought up like I never seen before. Where are all these people getting all this money to dump into these houses???? I ain't complaining though !!!!!

This doesnt have much to do about turning around Youngstown...but who knows it might. An interesting fact about Youngstown is that its almost exactly in the middle of Cleveland and Pittsburgh (within 2 miles), and even more Chicago and New York City (within like 15 miles). Thats just a weird fact I just found out and thought I would share it.

Cle440, any info on Youngstown is welcome..........thanks..........i always knew that we were in the middle of those, but didn't realize the mileage was that close.
That's one thing i don't understand, we have a great location, now we just need some investment and jobs. Lord knows we have plenty of people who need jobs. |
