As someone who has done my share of badmouthing the south side, let me say that I'm very happy to hear that there are more good areas on the south side than I thought.

Keep us posted, and contintue to stick up for your neighborhood. The best way to eliminate stereotypes is to disprove them.

Hmmm. I would have thought Meander lake out in Austintown or Lake Milton or Mosquito Creek Lake would be closer for boating.

Poland is nice but I wouldn't move directly into Poland. They have the 'we don't want to expand' mentality and the main drag through the village is a notorius speed trap.

There are lots of nice little neighborhoods with very decent priced homes in the Boardman area. Personally, I like the area around Bears Den and Canfield roads, near Mill Creek Park.

Nobody is allowed near Meander Reservoir. The entire Meander game Preserve is off limits. If you get caught, it's a $500 fine and they confiscate everything on you. That includes guns, motorcycles, fishing gear, and your tennis shoes. I grew up on property bordering Meander. It was fantastic having our own private play area as kids. I couldn't possibly tell you how many hours I spent riding horses, and motorcycles in there. It's a truly beautiful area with great fishing.

I bought a intack house for very little, it was not stripped, 5 miles south of youngstown, in Campbell. I agree if they sit it will be stripped, but that's true anywhere in most of the usa, the goal is to get them when they first hit the listings, if you don't get it fast, within 3 months its stripped, and the price of putting the plaace back together is more of a cost, sometimes 3 times the cost than if you paid a extra $3-5k from the beginning and bought it fast.

As of March 28, 08 there is a big revamp with hud houses in ohio, there is a new managing company taking over, and I think this is long over due since sitting house just go down hill fast, maybe this company will make the prices 1/2 and that could move them into people that care about a well built home. If it sits it get bull dosed flat.

I went to 3 houses last wedsday looking to get my next one, 2 of them was beyound normal help, the third was stripped in just 3 months, I have the property report done 12/12/07, it was in a good area, and low taxes, its a shame if this one get bull dosed.

I feel that some of the contractors hired by hud are the ones doing most of the stripping, of cource there are honest contractors too. I also feel the Mohoning County is getting sick of the way hud and everyone down the chain is handling the hud houses sitting on the market way too long and getting stripped & destroyed, that downgrades the area & town all the way down. If they would lower the price weekly to they sold, its better than just a dirt lot with no city taxes coming in on a house sitting there before, there going to be alot of open lots in many citys tomorrow & who knows how long this will last. I would buy 10 of them if they weren't stripped first, it would be a life long honest career, to fix, rent or sell them. I hope they have there head out of the sand starting 4/01/08. We Will See....... I'm sure this is on Topic, but just not the last few post statements.
