Default Marion OH Banks?

We are new to the area. We are looking for a bank to open a checking and savings account. We recently opened up an account at Chase and it seems that they have alot of fees. The most outrageous is when I wrote a check to a family memeber and when they went to cash it there was a $5 fee, because they did not have an account with them. Are there any banks that have basic simple accounts with out excessive fees for everything under the sun! Thanks for the help?

I don't know where you are from originally...but all I have ever know is banks with fees.

Most places will charge you if you go to cash a check at their facility without an account.

What bank/credit union to choose all depends on what you need and if you are looking for certain perks.

Looking for points programs?
Looking for good quality customer service?
Looking to bank ANYWHERE or just locally?

Where you work might have a benefit program that steers you to one place or another. Where I work offers "work perks" through National City. Basically its free checks for life, discounted rates, and a few other small benefits for using the bank.
