The reasons the gangs are taking over? They view NC (especially the Charlotte metro area) as "soft on crime" and it is absolutely true.
Crime is WAY WORSE in Charlotte than Columbus....perhaps you may wish to do some research before moving to Charlotte. I have to work there, but as soon as my shift is over, I lock my doors, and drive home to SC across the border.
I lived in Charlotte for 6 years before being moved here, I enjoyed every minute of it compared to Columbus. I felt safer in Charlotte than I do in most Columbus neighborhoods.

Why do I miss MN? The great outdoors, lakes, fishing and forests in MN. Boating in the summer, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing in the winter. OH does not seem to be as nature oriented. Nor does it seem to be very active. Although there are not many bugs in Ohio, so that's a plus.

Also, I am a moderate to liberal and where I live it is very Republican and just doesn't fit for me. I have met some great people, but people seem to be tense here.

Although everyone complains about the weather here, I find that the winters are quite mild, but no sun for months on end. The summers here are way too hot for me, with brown grass all summer.

We are here for a while more, but I won't stay here to retire.

The winters have gotten worse each year since being moved here 7 years ago. They get colder, snowier, and longer. It's very depressing and the main reason I'm leaving in '09, can't take it anymore. We had no summer this year and after the horrible winter we went through I've had enough.

Charlotte has changed IMMENSELY in the last 3 years. May have nicer weather, but much more dangerous than Columbus, Charlotte is always on the top ten to fifteen dangerous cities for the FBI List, along with Charleston SC, and many other Southern cities.

Gosh this thread sounds like a huge pity party..where are the tissues? This summer has been beautiful and so far this month as been too. Cloudy skies? Where? This whole summer/fall so far have been beautiful, where are the cloudy and dreary days at? Oh as far as complaining about the winter, does anyone care to define what winter means? Snow..cold weather..yup..I know..it's so hard to drive in a couple inches of snow and too cold!!!! Man, what are coats and gloves for? For halloween?

As for jobs, sure, you won't be able to find a job in one day, you actually have to try (Surprise!!! I would know! I'm a recent grad that IS working making good money).

It's ALL a matter of perspective. You appear to like living in Ohio, that's O.K but don't insult others' for their opinion, that's the type of narrow mindedness that others' in this thread were talking about that is abundent in Ohio.

TELL IT LIKE IT IS

1) Current or former Ohio location:Akron

2) Why do you want to leave or have left?:Want to get out of the state and meet new people

3) Where outside of Ohio and why:Somewhere south. Perhaps Texas because it is away from everyone.

4) 2nd and 3rd Place Choices:California, Arizona.

5) What’s currently holding you back from moving if you haven't already left?:Not having the money to relocate.Or a job waiting there when we get there.

6) Anything else you want to say?
Nathan and I would like to move out of Ohio and start our life without any of the drama that is here. Both of our families are here and we feel like we get no privacy because some sort of family is always around.

What a joke this thread is. If you dont like it here then leave. STOP CRYING ABOUT IT. Nobody cares. Maybe you should concentrate all the energy you people spend complaining about the great state of Ohio on your personal life you wouldnt feel the need to run away.

P.S. I LOVE CLEVELAND

AMEN!!! lol ...

Seriously, there are only 3 maybe 4 cities I'd move to if I left Cincy and that would never happen (One being the top priority):

1. Toronto
2. NYC
3. Chicago
3. Philly/Boston (tie)

Oh yeah, someone said something about license renewals..it is CHEAPER here! Honestly, someone in NKY pays a heck of a lot more each year to renew that little sticker than people living in Cincinnati or Ohio.

Continue on with complaints, great post by the way O-H-I-O..gave a rep for you!

What a joke you are, if you don't like people pissing and moaning about Ohio then don't come into this topic, nobody cares that you love Cleveland, maybe you should concentrate all the energy you spend gloating about the crappy state of ohio on your personal life and you wouldn't feel the need to stay here.
