I have never workerd for the union no, I refuse to. And I passed at all the opportunities. I have had working for me many people that have come from a union job that no longer belong to a union any more. My father was a union job man and ran his own business at the same time and most of my friends are union job people. I have seen all angles of the "union mentality" and they are quite amazing. I understand the "corporate mentalities" too as I am very familiar with both. Corp mentalities will always win in todays economy. And also for the record, all my employees do not want anything to do with a union as well. They are actually doing much better than their counterparts that are in unions.
I agree there was a time when unions had their purpose, those times have passed and we have a completely different work environment where today unions complicate things and do nothing but drive costs up tremendously as far as I am concerned. That is why unions continue to weaken, the union leaders getting fat from all the union dues know their days are numbered. As for not understanding this country any more.....thank your gov for that !
Finding water out west will be the least of Americas problems 20 years from now......again, thank your gov for that. The "global economy" the gov is pushing for is nothing but a big problem for the American middle class and at the same time an excellent idea for the American gov. We'll have much bigger problems to deal with.........This is just the way it is I guess ! I wish it wasn't.

Did you have the audacity to say Ohio needed illegal immigrants? You're not there living. Nor am I, but I have family in Ohio. Sorry it just appears you don't want to live in the U.S.

steven k, i totally disagree regarding my trade when it comes to unions. i am in the newer telecom. branch of local union 38. i am better trained,i make more, have better health benefits, and better pension/retirement/401k options than any non-union company offers their employees. the choice is a no brainer. besides, i get to work on the largest commercial building projects in the city(currently cleve. clinic heart center and the adjoining glickman tower. you dont know what your talking about !

I lived there until last year. And one of the things I found boring about Ohio was the lack of diversity. Go to NYC, for example, and you can find ethnic enclaves with all kinds of interesting restaurants/stores from just about any country you can think of. Most places in Ohio, if any, just don't have that.
Anyways, quit saying that I don't want to live in the US. Read my post, cause its full of places I mentioned that I like in America or that I would want to live.

current location: Columbus
Would like to leave Ohio because it has serious economic problems and there are too many poor regions in this state now...it's scary....also I don't think it's one of the more friendly states in this country....
I hate to sound so pessimistic but I think Columbus is going to start suffering more economically as well....The state of Ohio has a lot of financial problems, and the influx of immigrants is driving wages down for the working class here in Cols. .....of course, that is happening all over the US

I'm looking to leave Ohio, I haven't left yet. My family came here in 1995, when I was 13. I went away for college then came back for graduate school.
1) Toledo and Columbus.
2) I don't hate Ohio, but I've never been happy here. I do hate the weather though, even though I've spent most of my life in cold places. The cities here are dull. When people come to visit, there's really nothing worthwhile to show them. The people here likewise, come off as dullards. It's difficult to find worthwhile people who have things to talk about other than football. If you're not a Northern European German/Aryan type, you always feel out of place here in Ohio no matter where you go. Also, I don't see any future for the state. The state peaked economically, politically, culturally, demographically, a while ago, and I don't want to spend the rest of my life living through Ohio's slow decline.
3) I would love to get out to the Southwest eventually, such as Las Vegas or Phoenix.
4) However, I'm looking for medical residencies in a particular specialty with nothing available in that region. So in the near future I'm hoping to get out to Atlanta, Houston, San Antonio, Virginia Beach, or Chicago.
5) I came back here after college to go to graduate school.
6) Ohio is a 21st century urbanized state that seems to think it's a 19th century rural state. The state promotes itself with images of hillbilly farmers out in the country and Amish people. It has no interest in trying to grow or improve itself, only to complain about change and the loss of redundant jobs. The state needs a major wake up call, but I only have one life to live and I don't want to waste it in Ohio.

1) Current or former Ohio location:
Kettering (suburb of Dayton)
2) Why do you want to leave or have left?:
We left due to a great job oppurtunity for my fiance, and we had been looking to get out of Ohio for quite a while.
3) Where outside of Ohio and why:
Charleston, SC - For better weather, beaches, more culture and nightlife, and it is a beautiful city.
4) 2nd and 3rd Place Choices:
Naples, FL or North Carolina
5) What’s currently holding you back from moving if you haven't already left?:
I'm already gone!!
6) Anything else you want to say?

I think Dayton and Ohio overall have gone downhill in so many ways in the last few years, from crime, to lack of jobs, terrible weather, very little culture, not much nightlife...I don't think having a glut of malls and restaurants can make all that better.
I LOVE Charleston!! I'm so glad to be here, and I've never looked back!!

3) Where outside of Ohio and why: Philadelphia; see #2
4) 2nd and 3rd Place Choices: n/a

1) Current or former Ohio location:
Northeast Ohio (Ravenna)
2) Why do you want to leave or have left?:
Lack of opportunities, weather, clouds all the time, I've been here my whole life.
3) Where outside of Ohio and why:
Florida due to the weather, and a change of pace.
4) 2nd and 3rd Place Choices:
Louisiana, Tennessee
5) What’s currently holding you back from moving if you haven't already left?:
School & bills.
6) Anything else you want to say?
Ohio's nice and all, but I need a change. I'd consider SE Ohio, but there didn't seem to be much in terms of jobs down there.
