Cedar Point says massive wooden coaster Mean Streak will close; fans hope for steel-track remake (video) | cleveland.com

The Mean Streak always has been a bone-rattling ride, but it's also one of the most beautiful locations in the park.

You feel like you're in roller coaster heaven when you stand in the middle of that behemoth. It's among the most photogenic locations at Cedar Point.

I wonder if Cedar Point will bite the bullet and add a world-class wooden coaster to its park.

CP is a black hole when it comes to world-class wooden coasters.

It would be great if it replaced Mean Streak with a wooden coaster that bested Goliath at Six Flags in Illinois.

CP's sister park, King's Island, has become a wooden coaster mecca.

Kings Island reveals new roller coaster: Mystic Timbers

CP badly deserves a world-class wooden coaster, so I hope CP doesn't settle for a transformation of the Mean Streak into just a second-rate wooden coaster.

Mean Streak looked impressive but the ride was too rough.

I loved the view and always ride it on every visit to CP because it was awesome to be in the middle of all that timber. Great views of the lake as well.

I hope they keep they keep it and just rework it to be a steel-wood hybrid that would be smoother and faster.

I only rode Mean Streak once and that was enough for me. I do though, hope they add in a new wooden coaster. I am a Kings Island fan myself and am pretty excited about the new wooden coaster their building.

Cedar Point loves to break records and I don't think they would want to break The Beasts longest wooden coaster record so who knows what they will put in. It is a really nice area of the park for something amazing.

Not surprising. Last time we went to Cedar Point, the lines for all the other coasters were 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. There was no wait at Mean Streak just walk up and get in.

Default Rocky Mountain Construction remake in the works?

Mean Streak to be rebuilt as a steel hybrid with inversions, steeper drops and overbanked turns?

Is Cedar Point Retooling the Mean Streak as a Steel-Wood Hybrid Coaster? | Scene and Heard: Scene's News Blog | Cleveland Scene

I didn't know that the Mean Streak had been modified in 2012 and is no longer that rough a ride.
