There is bipartisan dismay over the Trump administration's delay in releasing an anti-Asian carp containment plan following complaints from special interest groups.

<<
A bipartisan group of legislators who represent districts along the Great Lakes are seeking signatures on their own letter to Trump that says the suspension "jeopardizes numerous industries in Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Wisconsin, including our $7 billion sport fishing market, $16 billion boating industry and $18 billion hunting and wildlife observation market."

"Further delay only increases the likelihood that this threat becomes a full scale, irreversible inundation of this highly destructive invasive species," says the letter signed by Ohio members of Congress including Republican Dave Joyce of Bainbridge Township, Democrat Marcy Kaptur of Toledo and Democrat Tim Ryan of the Niles area.>>

I wonder where Senators Portman and Brown stand on the issue.

His budget calls for a 97% reduction on Great Lakes restoration, from $300 million to $10 million. There are huge cuts on virtually every environmental program that directly/indirectly affects the Great Lakes. Is this what these states voted for?

They voted for jobs. Which apparently will happen as a result of making our water undrinkable.

Default Trump administration continues to punt on Asian carp problem

Congresspersons have introduced a bill in an attempt to force the release of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to release its study on how to keep Asian carp out of the Great Lakes.

U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur wants to force Trump to release Asian carp barrier study | cleveland.com

If Asian carp are introduced to the Great Lakes, it will do more than threaten the sports fishing industry.

Boaters, water skiers, etc. also will be at risk as Asian carp leap out of the water when startled.

Why isn't Rob Portman supporting this bill?

Boo freaking hoo. We have $20 Trillion in debt thanks to Unga Bunga. How much more do you want? $30 Trillion? $50 Trillion? $100 Trillion? A Billion Trillion?

Yeah, damn the Lake Erie environment, and the $10 billion Lake Erie tourism industry. Let's rape the country while we can, and then we can revoke our U.S. citizenship, and head to a tax haven.

What we need are larger deficits, hundreds of billions of tax cuts for one percenters who invest overseas instead of the U.S. Don't forget the hundreds of billions being spent annually to police Afghanistan and the Middle East, nor the $5 billion in direct aid needed annually for Israel (which has national healthcare) under our "America First" policy.

Hail the Donald and all of his base of gullible Trumpies!!! We don't live on Lake Erie or give a damn about it. Hell, we gladly impugn climate change scientists, trash and bury government climate change research, and plan to redirect NASA funding towards landing on Mars and away from earth planetary research. To hell with the planet, if it gets in the way of short-term greed. We'll be able to afford residences in the Arctic Circle, perhaps in Russia, if worse comes to worse.

Can you believe that those gullible Trumpies think we care about budget deficits!!! Damn that "New Bond King" Jeff Gundlach of Doubleline Capital. Even though he predicted the Donald's election, and has been a spot-on economic and interest rate prognosticator, why does he have to spill the beans about much higher interest rates as a result of our deficits. He's telling everybody to expect 6 percent 10-year Treasury rates, with even higher mortgage rates by 2021 as a result of Trump deficits. Of course, we'll short bonds, and inflation eventually will push real asset prices, such as for real estate, higher in the long run. We'll grab a larger share of the nation's wealth as a result, just as we did in the aftermath of George W.'s great recession, when only we could borrow money to buy assets on the cheap.

Hail the Donald!!!

What about George W.'s massive tax cuts, Middle East wars, and the Great Recession? What about all of those Republicans who supported that deficit spending?

Did you forget that much of the Obama deficits resulted from spending to recover from Bush's Great Recession and for the Middle East wars?

It's hard to believe that there are people out there willing to sacrifice the potential health of their states, homes and even their own bodies just to keep supporting an extremely fallible human being or stick it to political opposites. I have my doubts our species has a long-term future.

Exactly. The mental gymnastics it takes to support corporations and the military/prison industrial complexes but not clean air and water is mind-blowing.
