John Kasich has a long-stated ambition to be President, and term limits will end his Ohio governorship in 2018. His national book tour has raised speculation about his Presidential options in 2020.

If Trump remains unpopular, or stumbles even worse, especially among Republican voters, my expectation is that Kasich will run in some way for President.

He's the most boring candidate. He should save himself the embarrassment.

I doubt he runs as an independent. He's always been pretty loyal to the Republican party. A primary challenge, though... I could see it happening. I don't doubt that he's looking for an opportunity. He wants to be president, and he hates Trump. The question is, will there be an opportunity? As it stands now, much of the Republican establishment, and a seemingly large majority of Republican voters, are firmly behind Trump, making a primary challenge kind of pointless. But if that changes, yes, he'll be the first to capitalize.

If he wants to prevent a second Trump term, he'll run independent and attempt to split the vote.

If he wants to be president, he'll run in the primary.

I'd expect a primary run, if anything. 2020 is a long ways off, though, and a lot could change between now and then.

He should run for Sherrod Brown's senate seat.

As someone who generally votes Democrat, I can respect Kasich. We may disagree on a number of issues, and he may come across as boring, but I respect his intelligence and thoughtfulness. If 2020 came down to him and Elizabeth Warren, I'd vote for Warren, but I wouldn't feel the same amount of despair I felt when Trump won.

Remains unpopular?

LOL the recent survey said not only would 98% of his voters still vote for him now but he'd also win the popular vote.

What in the world did Kasich accomplish in the 2016 race except espouse Democrat principles and embarrass himself and didn't even show up at the convention in his state.

Are you forgetting he'd have to get the NOMINATION? LOL the party is NEVER going to support Kasich. Even if you want to daydream that President Trump decides not to run. Especially since he BROKE HIS PLEDGE to support the candidate which was made in exchange to receiving RNC data. There was a reason for that pledge.

Lastly, are you forgetting about Mike Pence?

I don't care what Kasich does....after killing clean energy in the state, he'll never get my vote.
