You got that one. In fact you put in the same quote I was going to put in the question. They just recently unveiled the historical marker at the site since the building is now gone. By the way, thanks for the spelling lesson. I guess I missed that one too.

There are two speed records involving trains and Ohio, one involving a steam locomotive and one involving a modified, jet powered railroad car. When, where, and at what speeds were these records set?

^I have no idea to the answer, but that sounds pretty impressive on the jet powered railroad car.

"What young man from Stryker was with a group who played an important part in cutting the Confederate supply lines during the civil war and what did they do to accomplish this? Bonus points for anything you can tell about the movie made a few years ago recounting this escapade." - William Knight from Stryker was one of 20 soldiers from OHIO who joined with James J. Andrews and William. Campbell to hijack a train in Georgia and head north, trying to destroy track and bridges in an attempt to cut the Confederate Supply lines. Andrews Raiders were only partially successful and were eventually captured after being chased by several different southern locomotives. Disney made a movie called "The Great Locomotive Chase" in 1956, although Buster Keaton made a silent film, "The General" much earlier.

More answers - "There are two speed records involving trains and Ohio, one involving a steam locomotive and one involving a modified, jet powered railroad car. When, where, and at what speeds were these records set?" - STEAM - The world's fastest run by a railroad train was made by the Broadway Limited of the Pennsylvania Railroad on Monday, June 12, 1905, when it ran 127.1 miles an hour between AY tower and Elida, Ohio. The Broadway Limited was pulled by coal-burning steam Locomotive 7002, and although many swift runs have been made in recent years by steam, electric and diesel locomotives, none has equalled the 127.1 mile an-hour record run established in 1905. (http://cprr.org/Museum/Locomotives/index.html) and JET POWERED - JULY 23 and 24, 1966 A jet-powered Budd railcar reaches 183.8 mph/295.8 kmh in Bryan, Ohio in the USA (http://www.alweg.com/alwegcologne/alwegtimeframe.html) This location was chosen for this run because of the long section of straight level track in the area.

The Conkle farm is located on Sprucevale Rd. just above Beaver Creek State Park. That's still located in St. Claire Twp. No where near wellsville.
