"What young man from Stryker was with a group who played an important part in cutting the Confederate supply lines during the civil war and what did they do to accomplish this? Bonus points for anything you can tell about the movie made a few years ago recounting this escapade." - William Knight from Stryker was one of 20 soldiers from OHIO who joined with James J. Andrews and William. Campbell to hijack a train in Georgia and head north, trying to destroy track and bridges in an attempt to cut the Confederate Supply lines. Andrews Raiders were only partially successful and were eventually captured after being chased by several different southern locomotives. Disney made a movie called "The Great Locomotive Chase" in 1956, although Buster Keaton made a silent film, "The General" much earlier.

The Broadway Limited was pulled by coal-burning steam Locomotive 7002, and although many swift runs have been made in recent years by steam, electric and diesel locomotives, none has equalled the 127.1 mile an-hour record run established in 1905. The Conkle farm is located on Sprucevale Rd. just above Beaver Creek State Park. That's still located in St. Claire Twp. No where near wellsville.
