I believe it is Grand Lake St.Marys in Mercer and Auglaize Counties. I know that is the largest man-made body of water in Ohio, built as a reservoir for the canals. I lived along the feeder canal just south of St. Marys for about a year back in the mid 70s.

from the book portage lakles then and now i found these stats
portage lakes is ohios most used waterway for recreational water sports. the state park has 1000 acres of land and 2520 acres of water,38 miles of shoreway. (once again i thought i read once p.l. had 125 miles of shoreways?)

This is all lakes combined so i think that for a single body of inland water it would be grand lake in st. marys.

Born in Hicksville, Defiance County (pop. 3,649), Daeida Hartell married prohibitionist H.H. Wilcox and moved to California in 1883. They created a residential subdivision in 1887. What was the name of that subdivision?

When the professional baseball team was founded in Cleveland, it was not called the Indians. That name didn't come about until 1915. What was the original name?

I wasn't able to read any of the details because of a really bad phone connection. The titles said Greenville, Ohio. It also looked like General "Mad Anthony" Wayne may have been involved in the signing too. Once this phone is fixed, I'll read the whole article.
