The state of Pennsylvania can lay claim to some dubious firsts. The first woman governor. The zipper. Toilet paper. And the autogiro, ancestor to the helicopter.

The google search that I did came up with Whitcomb L. Judson of Chicago as the inventor. It also talked about Goodrich coining the name zipper. I suspected that Akron would have something to do with it.
You are thinking of Garrett Morgan as the black inventor of the traffic signal. He patented the first easy to manufacture traffic signal, plus many other ingenious inventions.
Is anybody willing to tackle the question about Pretty Boy Floyd and his connection to Ohio?

Nope not Akron for Pretty Boy Floyd.
Mingo Junction is where menthol smokes were invented. Is that near the West Virginia border?

Yes, Pretty Boy Floyd was killed by the East Liverpool police. It was actually a little farther north in St. Claire Township Columbiana County near Calcutta. I don't remember if it was on Sprucevale Rd. or route 170, but it was on top of the hill above Beaver Creek State Park. The historical marker is still there.
I really love this area. It has facts, rumors, and conspiracy theories. Things like the bandit Simon Girty, the failed Sandy & Beaver canal, Gretchen's Locke, a single family that has been gobbling up thousands of acres for the past 200 years, a secret paleo indian village, and all kinds of horse riding trails. Beaver Creek State Park is rich in history. I highly recommend it.
Ok, next question then I'm off to bed. (I work at night).
The Grandmother of President U.S. Grant is buried here. When Grant spent time here as a small boy he always played with his young friend John Brown.
As an officer in the Union Army Grant fulfilled his duty by arresting his boyhood buddy after the famous Harper's Ferry incident. This town also used to have a famous fireworks factory until the owner was sent to prison. He's still there today. Name that town.
