Is there any zoning / laws regarding animals specifically for Pierpont? Any farms out there to board horses/ goats? I'm looking at a house on Marcy Rd, but want to check out the area first. I'm coming from mid-PA. Anyone from that area that can fill me in on the details? email: pummerone@yahoo.com thanks

I used to live just south of Pierpont. It is very isolated. The only thing in the area for the most part is farming. Many horses and whatever you want to have. I don't believe there is any zoning for the most part. You should see some of the structures in the area.
I hope this post helps you more than a link to Ashtabula county's web site! It is after all first hand knowledge! |

Justajourney, I hope, if you are still there... I hope that I can be of more help in looking at Pierpont. I used to live just south of there in Andover Twp. I can even tell you about the Andover bank that got knocked over 2 times in less than 3 years. BTW it is a converted singlewide mobile home. Pierpont also has an elementary school that is scheduled to close or has already closed. The students will have to go elsewhere in the Conneaut school district. The Jamboree food mart is a grocery store/general store with movie rentals. Good fried chicken. Other than that there is not much else there. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask!!

justajourney, I hope you can find any information on the link that I posted above. It should give you some information that you are looking for. I don't think it is too late for this thread to be ruined. Maybe try posting in the Cleveland forum, you might get better help there too.

The Pierpont elementary school, which by the way is part of Buckeye Local Schools--NOT Conneaut Area City Schools, is still open and students are enrolled. It's a small, but good elementary school.
Yes, to answer your questions about animals, Pierpont would be a wonderful choice for farming and such. The town is small, but lots of farm land and farm houses. There are mobile homes in the area, however, that is not the only form of housing available. Many people have the opinion that this is not a desirable area because of false conotations regarding people who may be economically disadvantaged--this is usually the case with Pierpont. Some of my husband's best friends were born and raised here. I believe that the road you are looking at is a gravel road that runs off of Rt. 7--the main road running through Pierpont. Rt. 7 is a paved road that runs from Lake Erie all the way down to southern Ohio. You will have to travel a good 20+ minutes for major grocery shopping, as the selection in Pierpont (Sparkle) is limited. A Save-a-Lot is located in Conneaut, located to the north, and Aldi, WalMart and K-Mart are located in Ashtabula Township, located to the northwest. All four of these stores sell groceries. Erie, PA, about 40+ minutes or so away would be the closest city to offer major shopping (malls, dept. stores...) and good restaurants. If you have any more questions I would be happy to help you out. I live in Ashtabula County and could perhaps be better at current information than someone who used to live here years ago. The last time I was down Marcy Rd. it was paved. Oh, and by the way, Sparkle is in Andover, not Pierpont. Jamboree is in Pierpont. Nobody said the only form of housing is mobile and no one is dissing mobile homes. The Andover bank is a retrofitted mobile home. Only someone who frequently traveled through and stopped in Pierpont could tell you that.
I never had a negative slant on my Pierpont opinion. I like that area. It is isolated and has a lot of farms. What's wrong with that? |
