I am going to be travelling through Ohio very soon, but I have an option of travelling through Cincinnati or Dayton. Which city is safer and an easier drive through? I'm coming from the Southeast.

Just hop on I-75 somewhere in Kentucky and drive north through both cities above. Your question will be answered.

They are both safe to drive through. Where are you trying to get to? People who are just passing through are typically going to be on I 75.

I'm coming from NC going to Chicago. I don't think i-75 is a route that's on my way really.

Take I-64/77 up to Charleston, get on US 35 west of Charleston and take it all the way to Dayton and pick up I-70 over to Indy. Piece of cake. I just did the trip from Wisconsin to central Virginia on that route. 35 is 4-lane almost entire way from Dayton to Charleston save for a short stretch in WV and very quiet. Cincy's interstates are under construction and a mess--I spend a lot of time there so unless there's some reason you want to see Cincy best to avoid it where you're coming from.

^ Yes, I would do exactly this. The only time you'd be on 75 during this route is the short stretch between the 35/75 intersection near downtown Dayton and the 75/70 interchange about seven miles north of downtown.
If you want to avoid Ohio entirely, you could take I-64 west from Charleston through Lexington and over to Louisville, then get on 65 and head north through Indy all the way into Chicago. That is less direct than Cyclingwriter's directions, however.

Thank you!! I was thinking I'd go through Cincinnati (toss of a coin at this point). I will go through Dayton instead! I appreciate the advice!
