Curious about illegals situation in Ohio
We are considering relocating to Ohio, possibly Orrville. I am just wondering if the smaller towns in Ohio are having a problem with illegals with the work situation, crimes, etc. Any Ohioans comments greatly appreciated or any recent visitors. Thanks.!

Well, i think it depends on where you are. I know up in Ashtabula they usually have illegals picking apples, etc. I almost never see any hispanics in the Youngstown/Warren area. Just some Puerto Ricans that have lived here forever and they are legal of course, plus Puerto Rico is American (well, sort of).
There may be a few illegal mexicans at some of the Mexican restaurants, but it's not noticable. I would say pretty much all home improvement and construction people are either white or black and i'm assuming legal! haha! It's not like how my friend in cali describes his trip to Home Depot. He says out there there are a ton of illegals hanging out in HD's parking lot and if he needs work done at the house he brings them home and pays them peanuts to do whatever.
The only other thing i've heard about illegals in the area is from a girl i know that works in some factory in Akron. I guess she is the minority there as a whilte female, she said everyone she works w/is hispanic and no one speaks english. She also said that the company is afraid someone is going to go in there and bust them............serves them right imo.

I live in NE OH, not far from Orrville. I don't see any huge problem with illegals. I do see some generational welfare moochers that live in Ohio but that has nothing to do with immigrants.

I suppose there are undocumented immigrants everywhere, but I don't see any increased crime due to them in my area. Most just want to be able to work in order to pay their bills. The welfare moochers (not the undocumented immigrants) and drug dealers are the real problem, IMHO. I think it's sad that people scoop them up and pay them peanuts for tough jobs, but I guess that's the way it is.

Yes I know what you're saying about the lazy welfare moochers who are able to work and don't, we have plenty up here also. I was curious about the illegals situation because reading alot of the other posts from various States such as Arizona, Texas, N.Carolina and even Tenn., they have created havoc with gangs and increased crime, not to mention bankrupting schools and hospitals. That was my concern; no desire to live anywhere near something like that. California is just about overtaken with them.

There really aren't that many illegals in Ohio compared to elsewhere in America. Ohio has one of the lowest % of Hispanics of any state.

I understand what you're asking now. No, that's not been a problem here in southwest Ohio. It's pretty quiet.

I have to disagree. Just this past week, the sheriff in Butler County arrested an illegal in a parking lot in Fairfield selling fake IDs. The sheriffs office said that particular person lived in Cincinnati. It's not the first arrest his office has made either and it sure wont be the last.
The Hispanics have just about taken over the Cincinnati suburb of Carthage and they are moving into Sharonville, Oh too. I am not saying all of them are illegals but I bet half or better are.

About 20-25 states have similar %. So your comment is pretty moot. By population figures, Ohio ranks at 21 for Hispanic populations. You should also note that certain areas of Ohio have high hispanic populations - but you also didn't comment on that.
