Anyone move to the Youngstown/Warren/Boardman metro????
I've noticed that a lot of people have been asking about the Youngstown/Warren/Boardman Metro over the past year. I'm always curious if anyone out there has actually relocated to the area. If so, could you answer some questions for me???????
What community in the metro did you move to?
Where did you move from?
Have you ever lived in Ohio before?
What do you think of the area in terms of the following: scenery, cultural events, weather, and shopping???
Why did you move here?
And lastly, what kind of job did you find?
Thanks in advance for your input! ~Cortlandgirl79

I don't know if you're interested in my answers because I've been here for about 8 years, and I'm not new anymore.

When I first moved here, I lived in Austintown. When I went in for the interview, they suggested I live there, and not in the city. I decided to move into the city 2 years later.
I grew up in Perry township--between Massillon and Canton. But, I was living in Massillon before I moved here.

Scenery: Mill Creek Park is great. Downtown is good, and getting better. My neighborhood is OK, but there are many houses that need some TLC.
Cultural events: I was never really into culture growing up. But, I'm very impressed with the cultural amenities that Youngstown has.
Weather: It's pretty similar to what I grew up with. I think Youngstown gets a little more snow than the Canton area.
Shopping: I wish there were more places to shop in Youngstown. The suburbs have plenty of options, but I don't really like going to the burbs.
I was offered a job here first, and liked the "feel" of the office.

I'm a CAD operator/intern architect. My employers were having a hard time finding a local candidate who had the qualifications they were looking for. So, they hired an employment angency who found me. I suspect this happens a lot, in many different professions, around here.

BTW, i'm talking about Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull Counties. I don't care if you've only lived here a few months or several years, as long as you aren't a native i want your opinion!

I closed on a new home in Boardman on Friday.
Current location in Pittsburgh.
Will be moving to Boardman over the summer, and will keep my Pittsburgh home, and my company in Pittsburgh.
Moving to Boardman simply because I find the right size home (6,000 sf) and the layout I need, with land.. something not available in Pittsburgh in my price range.

Anyone moving to this area is out of their mind! Don't bother coming to this dump, and if you're already here, get out before it's too late!
