East side of Youngstown, how safe?
I'm wondering if anyone can let me know about the safety of the area in east Youngstown including Campbell St and also by the Taylor St area (both just west of 680). Are there big gang problems over there or is it just boarded up and poor?

I don't know that specific area, but i've been told the east side is by far the worst side of town. Hopefully, someone who knows the area can help you out.

I think after some research the area I'm thinking about is South Youngstown. I'm having trouble figuring out where the unofficial boundaries are. I'm looking at the 900 block of Campbell St.

I've found out it is Lansingville. Any info on that neighborhood?

I don't know anything about the neighborhood. But the Shout Youngstown blog has several articles about events in the neighborhood that might help give you a feel for the area. i will shout youngstown |

I asked a co-worker (a Youngstown native) about the Lansingville area this morning. He said the area is OK, and he might be buying a house in this neighborhood.

From my experiences, I've been told that if you're going to live in Youngstown stick to the West Side

South Side
I live in Lansingville. I live by the old Wilson High School. It's not a bad area, we have a bad reputation but that's it. There are some rough spots going towards Mooney High School. I would recommend staying west of the old Wilson. I'll post some pictures tonight of my neighborhood tonight!

i grew on the east side of youngstown my whole entire life. i would like to say that there is no safe side of town. people can get killed any where at any time in the world. yes the east side have problems but what part of the city dosen't. the are really nice parts of the east side. the lincoln knolls area is very quiet and have many big houses. if you want to know about the eastside, you need to check it out for yourself.
