See post 231 here for my offering. I didn't get into Ohio State or pro sports, perhaps wrongly, as they greatly contribute to my affection for the state.

What I love the most is the travel aspect. Ohio has 5 U.S. President's buried within it's borders. I've been to all of them.

1. William Henry Harrison: North Bend.

2. Warren Harding: Marion

3. James Garfield: Cleveland

4. William McKinley: Canton

5. Rutherford B. Hayes: Freemont.

Hayes, Garfield and Harding have homes that are open for visitors. I have toured all three.

The former home of Ida Saxton, McKinley's wife, now houses the First Ladies Musem in Canton.

Plus there are other sites to visit.

William Howard Taft's birth home is in Cincinatti, also open for tours.

U.S. Grant's birth home is in Point Pleasant, right across the road is the beautiful Ohio River. His childhood schoolhouse is several miles away, and his home in Georgetown until age 17, before he left for West Point. Both open for tours.

Although William Henry Harrison was born in Virginia, his family moved here when he was 2 or 3, so Ohio claims him too as their native son.

Too much to list! Just noticed a big swing in the weather between northern ohio and southern ohio today. It’s 62 in the south and I’m sitting on my patio with shorts on while it’s only 44 up north. Still, 44 is amazing for northern ohio in feb.

Are you sure that's not due to proximity to the lake? We hit 60, up here in Youngstown.

I like Ohio's mix of urban and rural, and its historic feel, it's sense of place.

I also like the mixture of urban & rural, gives the place a more calming feel compared to the coasts. All the trees/forests are beautiful. The architecture of historic homes and buildings, especially from the 19th century. The low cost of living is huge, especially when you want to go out and restaurants & bars are like half the price for comparable quality compared to LA, Chicago etc.

Exactly this. There is really something for everyone in this state. Big cities, small towns, countryside, lakes, cornfields, waterfalls, hustle and bustle as well as peace and quiet. Many normal people living life without trying to prove something to everyone they meet. It's a good place to just "be."

I rather enjoy the large number of cities in the state compared to others. Many states will have one or two large or midsized cities. Indiana, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Michigan all come to mind. We've got three large cities and numerous midsized cities. It offers a lot of chances to explore and enjoy a wide variety of urban places and environments. I love to visit Columbus and Cleveland whenever I can, though I do prefer those Cleveland trips if I'm honest.
