Yes, I second the "non-recommendation" of Youngstown City Schools. They are an utter mess at the moment! The high schools have just been consolidated and fights are taking place at alarming rates. Community members and parents are outraged and students have been posting comments on the Youngstown Vindicator discussion boards about how they are terrified just to walk through the halls lately.

Thinking of Purchasing Rental Property
Hey how's it going? I know you were talking to someone else, but I myself am in the process of possibly negotiating to purchase some investment property in Youngstown and it's good to hear insight from another investor. I'm awaiting more information on the property and I'm curious are you a home inspector, more importantly I'm trying to line up property management in the area do you suggest anyone. Thanks if you can help me, the names Andre Spivey.

Buying houses in youngstown area
I bought a house in Campbell about 6 months ago, there are the good side of campbell & the not so good side, lucky for me being from east pa before here, I made the right choice in the house and area, Campbell reminds me of long island, archie bunker neigborhood, older homes but designed for long tern, with solid oak flooring, full basements, sit on front porches, good neigbors, quite and safe where I live in campbell. boardman is the new stores area and modern places to go to dinner, boardman has everything in the way as shopping / eating places.
The prices are good for buying homes in the youngs area, cheaper than anywhere in 10 miles around, Cleveland is cheaper yet, and detroit is cheaper still, I'm buying more houses in the youngstown area, and try to fix them up working by myself is hard to do alot on them, I done most business in life and can do the repairs, but its better if you have persons helping that have a interest in the place too.
I have a way to assist people interesting in renting or buying in mohoning county, as in youngstown and other areas, as in team members that want to work for a fair deal if offered. the info is at my site drakeeng net

Sure, there's risk involved, but at <$10k a pop, not a whole lot, especially if the house would be removed from the equation.
Gated, luxury flats in heart of Youngstown. I giggled about that thought for a moment, but then again, all it really takes is a person with ambition and means.

Most of the houses that are under 15k in Youngstown and Warren have been stripped of everything valuable already. This would include any stained glass windows, pocket doors, leaded glass, mantels, siding, and plumbing.

Here are some similar homes in Warren, unfortunately most of the west side, a portion of the SE side, and some of the North End are pretty ghetto. Warren, OH, Real Estate Listings and Warren, OH Homes for Sale - Realtor.com
The NE side is the nicest part of town, especially if a home is located in the Howland school district (this includes some nice areas of the SE side).
Here are some affordable homes in the nicer areas of town.
