>I really don't know what I'd call it - but that may be the beauty of it all. OH is unique in it's own way.

That's a wonderful response! :-)

Well, guess that is "new history" from when I took Ohio history in 7th grade in the late 1960's - that is where I was taught why OH was considered midwest because didn't make sense to me as a kid either! Yes, was northwest territory when it was the most western populated before MN, WI etc. were settled, but learned that when population reached the Mississippi we were then considered midwest. Talk to Mr. Brookbank about it. LOL!!!

Here in Dayton, we locals just survived yet another political scandal; a city organization hired the publicity firm run by the wife of a Congressman. The firm was supposed to come up with a catchy slogan to market Greater Dayton to the rest of the world. She came up with the slogan: "Get Midwest". Besides what appeared to be an improper selection process by the city, the slogan was not very well received by some (including Yours Truly) But I guess it suggests that at least some of the locals consider themselves Midwesterners.

Now that's just bizarre!

Who came up with that? Hope it wasn't a UD grad ...

Although I don't guess it's any worse than the old "Wander Indiana" campaign, which my Hoosier-native brother-in-law said just encouraged people to venture into Indiana without directions.

Now that people mention it, "Midwest" is a silly term to describe a state that's practically in the Northeastern corner of the country, and 3 time zones away from the real "west".

Here's something odd. I was talking with an Ohioan, who lived in the area of Youngstown, where two of the members of AC/DC are from...and she told me that she lived in the Eastern timezone, just like I did.

I thought all Ohio was on Central Time.
