Thanks for the california perspective responses! We have been following the growth in the Granville area, via a subscription to the daily Advocate, and the weekly Granville paper. It seems there are few to no places left in this country, that have a high education base, jobs, open minded/liberal thinking, no sprawl, and affordable housing.

We are leaning towards getting a 5-10 acre spread, on the outskirts of Granville. It looks like there are a lot of these type places available, in Newark.

Thanks for the heads up on the humidity! I grew up in New Jersey, so I know humidity and snow. I am excited and scared of them. Moving is a stressfull thing. You lose your friends and infastructure. We have moved over 10 times, between california, texas, new jersey, belgium, and norway. We are hoping we can live out our days in this area, in peace. Thanks again for all the feedback. Walter

We moved from Livermore, CA to Mount Vernon, OH in August 2007 for the some of the same reasons you gave. Our main reason was to get away from the ever increasing costs and never moving traffic jams. Sold our 1200 sq ft house for $530K and still trying to determine what we want in this area.

Mount Vernon is only about 20 miles from Granville. Several people where I work live in Granville. I would second the earlier comment about the increasing rise of mcmansions in that area.

So far this year the weather has not been that bad. A couple of snows and some cold nights and days but nothing that has caused any problems.

Good luck with your move.
