Default Oxford: Dining and Shopping

I'll be in Oxford within the next couple of weeks to apartment shop before starting graduate school at Miami in the fall.

While I'm there, where's a good place to get a nice meal? During my first campus visit, I didn't see a lot of nicer sit-down restaurants, but I also didn't explore too much beyond the campus itself. Non-chains preferred.

And for when I'm moving in in the fall, where are the stores? Target? Ikea? Anything like that nearby? Or would I have to go into Cincinnati for that?

Its been ages (graduated 1990) but most of the newer commercial stuff was SW of downtown and campus near the big apartment complexes. For bigger stores head down 27 toward the northern Cinci burbs.

SDS Pizza was the best at the time. They still exist from what I heard.

LOL long time ago.
I hear Loony T Birds is gone now. (music store)
Im sure the bar scene is different now. Attractions was for the pretty people. Ugh ?name? that place upstairs was for rockers...

Hamilton and West Chester would be your best bet for big box stores like Target and Ikea. There isn't a whole lot out in Oxford (at least what I've seen when I've been there). There seem to be some cool little places to eat along the main streets around the center of town. Oxford, though, is definetly a college town with a lot of undergrads.

It seems as though Wal-Mart is the only game in Oxford. The nearest Target is indeed in Hamilton, and the nearest Ikea is indeed in West Chester. I'll have to Mapquest to see just how to get there.

We had dinner two nights in Oxford, once at Steinkeller and once at Paesano's. Both were really very good!

Both of those are good places to eat. There's a place in Hamilton called Riverbank Cafe that's a decent place to eat you might want to try out as well. It's on the corner of Main street and B street.
