I also noticed everytime you can come back on here and vote again. Everytime you vote for something even if you voted before the number of votes for either one goes up!?!? I think you keep coming back on here and voted numerous times for whatever one you wanted. READ THIS. VERY IMPORTANT. MOST OF THE PEOPLE ASKED YOU TO STOP POSTING NEGATIVES. DO YOU KNOW WHAT A NEGAVTIVE IS? YOU EVEN AGREED TO STOP. YOU SAID YOU WANT TO HERE GOOD COME OUT OF OHIO. STOP WITH THE NEGATIVES. WE ASKED YOU NICELY. There is not one single state that has a person like you making negatives about a certain place. Your the only one of thousands of members to do this. No one cares for this stuff. Even other states that are in worse shape than Ohio dont even have people doing this. DO RESEARCH ON OTHER STATES NEGATIVES COME OUT ON EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE 50 STATES OUT THERE. Stop saying Ohio has the worse of the problems because it doesnt. Your information is outdated and not factual. They are lies. I am the only person reading this thread. The other 2,000 some people probaly read this thread and got bored and just left. I am also the only one commenting on here. You keep posting false information. And if you keep doing that you will keep your thread up at the top of page 1. But thats what you want right? You want to close another thread? Oh well. Negatives are such a bad thing dont you think? Heres some advice. Read a persons full comment they left instead of reading what you want to read and then commenting on what you want to comment. You seem to just comment on what you want to. |

Great picture of a typical Ohio power plant and the amount of air pollution that they generate: go to Google Earth and type in Moscow, Ohio. Then scroll northwest to the Ohio River -- see the smoke? I think that this is the Zimmer power plant. Also, remember to go to Google and type in BLUE SMOKE, TAINTED WATER to get an idea of the air quality in this state.
Columbus ranked dead last among the country’s 50 largest cities: www.sustainlane.com/article/895 Update: layoffs at big employers so far in 2006 -- go to "Current Year's Notices" at: jfs.ohio.gov/warn/layoffs.stm Ohio recorded the country's fourth-largest number of layoffs during the first quarter, the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in May 2006. Layoffs in Ohio totaled 13,471 during January, February and March of this year, according to the bureau. Last edited by Ohioan; 06-20-2006 at 07:41 PM. |

Wow how did anything of that have to deal with pollution? Every state has bad pollution. Just look at California and NY much worse than Ohio. Where do you get your facts from? They are lies. Outdated and not factual. And those job listings i gave are really great news and the positives outweigh the negatives now. Those facts are from about 5 years ago that you give. And did you even read what i first said? Thats right you only type what you want to.

I'm with paintballer here - Ohioan's constant negative droning (and refusal to answer any questions like, "why on earth do you live in Ohio?", or "Can you balance this with anything positive?") is just boring. And, smacks of some sort of bizarre agenda - I don't get it.
I have friends who live in Ohio (I'm in Michigan) and love it there. Ohio shares borders with five other states - are PA, WV, KY, MI and IN all tainted by the same foul air and dreadful lifestyle and economy as Ohio, or does all the bad stuff stop right at the state lines? I just can't take "Ohioan" seriously, and it looks like nobody else really does either. Still plenty of inquiries about moving there. My sister and her family might be moving to Cleveland - there is apparently a vibrant Jewish community & schools there and real estate is much more affordable than where they are now, in NY. It hinges on a job offer. I'm going to send her a link to these forums and see if she changes her mind. ![]() |

Housing appreciation rates, home foreclosures and delinquent loans:
Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight ... Percent Change in House Prices through Q1 2006. Notice that Ohio came in second to last in the national for housing appreciation rates in the past 5 years. . http://www.ofheo.gov/HPIState.asp?FormMode=Summary (broken link) and www.ofheo.gov/HPIMSA.asp (broken link) “Ohio’s disgrace: No.1 in Home foreclosures.” This headline was located on the front page of The Columbus Dispatch, 9-18-05. Map of Ohio showing county by county percentage increase in foreclosure rates: http://www.dispatch.com/reports-stor...921-A6-01.html Of Ohio’s home loans, 3.3 percent were in foreclosure in the first half of 2005, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. That is more than triple the U.S. average of 1 percent. Q4 2005 delinquent home loans per state: Ohio is #1 and #11 for past due home loan payments. http://www.usatoday.com/money/econom...quentchart.htm Ohio is in the top five (5) of all states in home mortgage loans with down-payment help from the sellers. http://www.dispatch.com/reports-stor...113-A4-03.html Answers: 1) I could care less about being at the "top" of the City-Data forums. 2) I do not have an agenda -- other then posting unfiltered information. This information may be negative, but I did not make it up. Anybody can post filtered information -- I will post only relatively unknown information which, regrettably, uncovers many of Ohio’s hidden problems, 4) I am not a native of Ohio -- just someone who reads and sees what is happening to this state. 5) I plan on leaving Ohio in the next few years. |

Good, cant wait for the day you leave. Many people are moving here to take your place. This site is for people who want to move here. Not get bored out of their minds by information you posted from sites that arent very popular in the public eyes. Some of that information you have posted i have seen some 3 times already from you. Why your at it take a trip to Southern California, SE Florida, North and Southern Texas, NY State, and eastern Mass. When you travel to some of the big cities in those areas you will see a layer of smog across the city's horizon. My two years living here in Ohio i have not seen smog like that in Cleveland, Cincinnati, or Columbus. I would trust information that i can see with my own two eyes over information from a site that isnt up to date. By the way you never mentioned where you came from? Indiana, California? Are you even from the USA? Many people are moving to Ohio and they like it here. Did you even do information on other states? So many out there are in worse shape than Ohio. But you probaly didnt check any others out. If you look at google images and say " oh thats bad pollution coming from that factory." Well that is not very trusted information. Go to New Jersey where they have underground fires where they burn their trash. Go to California where they dump toxic waste into the ocean only a few miles away from where people swim. EVERY SINGLE STATE HAS PROBLEMS. I have found out that you used the polls unfairly on here. I just dont get it. You said that you would stop even when we asked you nicely and you even agreed too. But you came back and proved yourself to be a liar. Thats why its hard to believe you outdated information. I get my facts up to date and from a website that updates them day by day. It also comes from a state and national level so they know what they are talking about. I dont just google this stuff. Or even have hundreds of pages on this stuff. Thats crazy. I have one source that millions of people trust. I am not a native of this state either and i love it here. Just like the thousands of others that are moving here do. You say that " just the born residents are the only ones who think Ohio is a great place to live." You are completely wrong. So many people move here and love it here. Once again read my full post and comment on everything instead of just one thing that you would like to comment to. Quote:

Hi Paintballer, I asked you this question in another thread and I'll ask you here just in case you don't get to the other thread, are many of the cities in Ohio experiencing problems with illegal aliens? I am in a city that has been overwhelmed by them and frankly, I am looking to get away from it and to a city that has not been hit yet as I am tired of my tax dollars going to the various programs that they need. Any ideas on some cities in Ohiothat has not been overwhelmed by them?

It was Chillicothe right? Well its south of Columbus which has been experiencing alot of hispanic migration to it. But Chillicothe is still a small town that has not felt those affects but the really good news is that it is growing. It is attractive to alot of people from WV that head across the border to Ohio for more oppurtunity. But overall Chillicothe has not felt those affects. Sadly Illegal Immigration is a problem that most major cities in this country face. If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask.

You know, I have little doubt most of what is being reported is true. However, if you read about other states, you find that everything in the US is going downhill.
In GA, I think the high school graduation rate is less than 50% for all public high schools!!! Bottom line - if you have some money, you can live about anywhere and live in a nice house in a safe neighborhood. If you don't have much money, you need to really research the good areas and try to find affordable housing there. RE the college graduation rate in Ohio being only 21%, whose fault is that? Not the state's. It comes back to families, parents and values all of which are falling apart all over the US, sadly. Trust me, I have researched many areas from Ohio down to the South/Southwest and even a little west of the Mississippi, for every good point one state has, there are several negatives which make everything about equal. Sadly, there is no state I know of that is progressive in jobs, education, tax reduction, epa safety, etc. If anyone knows of one, please let me know !!! |
