I belong to an antique fire apparatus club and we have our annual fire apparatus show in Veteran's Park there. Germantown is a pretty little (but growing) town!
Hey Lajulia, my wife grew up bei Cochem/Mosel!

When do you have your show? I'd like to take some pix of the apparatus.

Lajulia - If your're interested in German settlements in Ohio, search information for Zoar in Tuscarawas county. Zoar was settled by Swabian "Separatists" in 1817 who came from Wuerttemberg. Much of Zoar today is owned by the Ohio Historical Society (state park system). Check out www.zca.org. There is also a havest festival there in August with an antique show and Civil War re-enactment.

German Village
I had never heard of Germantown, which I found interesting as I am into genealogy and my German ancestry! Anyways, what I know is in Columbus there is a section downtown called German Village with brick laid streets and quaint little old houses. I'm not sure of the background on it, but I know many Germans did settle there. My family just loves it! There is most likely a town website. I hope that can help you some on your research!

I'd love to take some pictures of a club activity to add to my Germantown page on my web site. Please PM me about your next event.

Attention Jeffery T:
Thanks for posting the pictures of Germantown. It's nice that other's can see what a great little town this is. My grandparents lived there for years. On a farm in the country and then in town. The town home was one of those big old houses on Cherry Street; complete with a spiral staircase.
G-Town has a great school system, always has. I think what I find the most unique about this place is the fact it never changes. It kind of reminds one of what you think a Norman Rockwell type of town would be like. It hasn't changed much in all the years I can remember. It still has the skating rink I skated on back in the late 60's and the pizza parlor where I had my first date in the early 70's. When you go there it has a peacefulness to it. Change can be a great thing; but isn't it nice to just let time go by slowly at times.

I used to spend parts of my summers in Germantown at my Uncle's. It's a wonderful little town, many fond memories.
