Oh, you must be talking about that tiny amusement park in the strip? Yes, that is gone. No big loss if you ask me. I think the winery might have even expanded into part of it.

That area is getting better though. My family lives in Ashtabula County and I'm in Geneva-on-the-Lake a couple times each summer. It seems to be more crowded and nicer each time I go, opposed to my younger days when it was in decline like the rest of the county. I don't think that place ever got many tourist from much further off than the surrounding counties though.

dendren is on a distinguished road
ya know, i've lived in ashtabula co. most of my life. i've lived in CA for 4 years and TX for 6 months. i came back because it's home. i sure remember the better times this town had, and i sure see what it has become. i do not understand why this town doesn't use their natural resourses and expand on it. i seen a beautiful boardwalk to the light house for walnut beach, a proposed idea in the star beacon, what ever happened to that idea? we have snow and i remember the ice ponds to skate on, why don't we have a nice pond, not deep, made used for that, music, barrels emitting a warm fire, hot chocolate for sale. we had a rope lift down at walnut beach to pull us sled riders back up the hill. the summer is the best, i seen in pictures that there was an amusement park now at pinney docks. a carousel, roller coaster, on the beach...we used to have amusement park at walnut beach once a year, that was fun. i know there wasn't alot to do when i was growing up here, but now there isn't anything!!! no wonder there are so many drugs, and so much depression here in this area. we have so many empty buildings here in ashtabula, why not turn the old DYI into a sort of chucky cheese place. it's large enough place for a carousel, all sorts of games, and outside could even be a race track. where would this money come from??? someone tell me why we needed all those new green signs for rt 11 and and all the exits? the old ones looked ok to all that i have talked to. we could have used the money for something better...look at what one person that in geneva has done because he has a good heart and has the money and is giving back to our county. aren't there more people like this around? we as a people need to find some business ourselves and try to bring them in. i've emailed quite a few companies to see if they would be interested in our area. we need a couple of good large companies. any one have an idea. my kids and grandkids are growing up here right now and we have 1 old rollerskating rink, an couple of theaters, a so called mall (no shops for teens or kids) whats there to do. please i do not intend to step on any toes just a solutions by the people not the politicians. ps, i'm not working and i don't have any money either, but where is all the stimulis money going?
