Default Marietta, OH

New to Marietta, OH area. Moved from Toledo/Sylvania area of NW ohio.
Mid 30's and looking for some fun things to do/see/ experience.
Getting bored quickly and I'm quite sure I haven't experienced all the Marietta area has to offer.

Is there any "real" bike trails nearby? I'm not talking about the walking trail near downtown- which is lovely in it's own respect. Northbend seems too far to drive for an after-work ride.

Savvyysh, check out my responses to these threads here. They're Parkerburg-based threads but I spoke mostly about Marietta, since that's where I'm from.

A few months ago I saw in one of my magazines (Dirt Rag, I believe) that one of the point series championship races was being held in Marietta, out at Wayne National Forest (go out Rt. 26). I have 3 buddies in Cali that MTB professionally and 1 buddy in Tampa that races semi-, and they all got their start there in Marietta.

As far as things to do, what are your interests? The Mid-Ohio Valley is so diverse that there should be entertainment opportunities for anyone and everyone. Someone that needs it spoon-fed to them might find the area boring, but if you're willing to put a little effort into seeking it out then it's out there.

Can you list some interests? Maybe we can go off that with some suggestions.

*Edit - For the sake of reference, I'm in my early 30s. I've lived in WV, OH, SC & NC with extended stays (6+ mos) in AZ, CA, and MS (and just under 6 mos in Vegas & SLC). I've traveled to most of the rest of the US. Maybe it's me, but I've found only a half-dozen or so cities that appeal to me as much as the MOV. Heck, even George Washington stated that he knew of no better place for a man to live than Marietta. I currently live in SC again but would love to be back 'home'.

And many years ago, Marietta was the place to see. It was the original Broadway. People from all over the US would beeline for Mtta to see the grandest stage in the East. Because of that and other history surrounding the area, they tend to be encapsulated by tradition which has prohibited growth in many areas (well, that and the flood planes)
