I dont live in Lima, but have been several times. From what I remember its a somewhat run down town ( as many are in Ohio )........many dive bars and nothing in the area of culture, arts ect,.... its more in the nature of a farm type community. I have no idea about the gay community...but I would assume it wouldnt be much. I would imagine you would be happier in Columbus as its quite progressive, with a nice art/cultural scene and more diverse population.
Good luck

I am not gay so I am definetly not an expert but I do know there is one bar called Somewhere in Time. I went there for a few shows but it is pretty small and not all that exciting. Most of my gay friends go to Dayton or Columbus to go out. I'm younger so a lot of my friends are very accepting of people being gay but I would worry a little about the older people in the community. Obviously everyone is different and I don't want group everyone as young=accepting and old= not. I personally can't wait to get out of Lima and I would encourage you to check Columbus out.

Ohio Northern University in Ada Ohio is around 20 miles from Lima, and there are some gay's going to colledge here, I live amongst college students in a apartment comples in Ada. What race are you? I am not gay, but I am open minded about gays. Lima, is not a friendly town toward openly gay people, as I have lived around Lima all my life. I am a retired corrections officer for the state of Ohio and have been around a lot of gays in my profession, I always treated them like other people. You can contact me at twit46@roadrunner.com if you have any more questions!

I grew up in Lima but moved away a lifetime ago. Still miss the bar scene in Lima as it's a great dive bar scene with lots of blue collar bars, think the type of Bar the Miller guy would be happy at.

Somewhere in Time is the gay bar in Lima and the only one that I'm aware of. Remember there are 3 cities within a hour and a half from Lima and Ft. Wayne is 50 minutes.

I live in Lima and opening the BIJOU Cinemateque at the Lima Gay Community Center, 136 E. High Street. The building was donated to the Lima Gay Community Center but ran into legalities, that are now corrected. Reopening within a few months for members only. Also, it will be for bisexuals as well as gays, as there aren't enough gays here in Lima to support a large club. The non-alcoholic Bar section will be called THE ***** CAT BAR named for the theaters owned by Vince Miranda in Los Angeles. If you know what the Miranda Rights are after an arrest, they were named for Vince, who was gay and now deceased. The second floor under renovation will be the Lima Gay Community Center, the owners of the building, led by Bill Dakota. Over 7,000 square feet for the whole building. The BIJOU will have 70 seats with movies as well as live entertainment, male and female strippers. Lima's new entertainment center that was worth waiting for.
