You should move to Akron instead. It's has tons to do. The city (downtown) isn't all that, but the surrounding areas are great. Check out Fairlawn, it's one of the best cities to live in ohio if you ask me. Lots to do there and montrose, tons of shopping, food..summit mall is nice too. Also the valley is good.

Well see when we first move there we want to rent until we get to know the area and can decided what area we want to buy a house. We figure it will be easier to find and buy a house once we have lived and visited the area. The one thing we have realized is that rent that is cheap compared to here. I mean we live in a 3brd 2b and pay around $1500 so the one thing we are looking forward to is the cheaper rent.
Slash83-We will check out those area's that you suggested. Thank you guy's again for all the help and replies that I am getting. I am looking for a pin pal to write to that can not only tell me about the areas but fill in the pieces that you just can't know through research like how living in Ohio really is. The one thing I know is that I can not wait until Dec gets here because I have been looking forward to moving out of the state of Florida since I can remember. Stephanie and Terry |

I see where you are coming from, Stephanie and Terry.
I know many people that have left Florida in recent years. Esp some family from Pennsylvania that moved there expecting it to be paradise, but it turned out the schools were bad, the weather was not the greatest, crime was getting bad, and they moved to West Palm, left for Port St. Lucie and within three years of living in the so-called country, they were seeing housing developments sprout up next to them. They now live around Columbus. Ohio does have a good lifestyle, a good quality of live, and some very nice areas to live in. Don't let some peoples' opinions change your whole idea of a major state. Around Youngstown, there are some very nice suburbs. Columbiana, Canfield, Poland, Boardman, Austintown, Howland, Hubbard and can't forget Cortland lol. CortlandGirl can fill you in on that one. My favorite is probaly Columbiana located south of Youngstown. It is a quaint little community. It has a very nice main street, a great park, and is not far from the shopping and dining attractions of Boardman. City of Columbiana, Biggest Little Town in Ohio |

Well, rent is definitely a lot cheaper here. For my county (Trumbull, north of Youngstown), i would try to rent in Howland. It's a good community w/good schools and it has great highway access and is close to shopping. If you rented there you could send your kids to good schools while researching where to live. Currently i rent in the City of Warren, but in the Howland school district. I live in a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath townhouse w/a basement and i pay a little less than $700/month. Here are a couple of nice rental communities you may want to check out: Northbury Colony This is the Warren location, you might want to check out some of the others on the website. Traveler87- I know what you mean about the florida life. It sucks I mean you spend 9-10 months sweating your as* off. I know that with anywhere you move to that you are seeking info on you will get people with negative feedback, but I don't pay no mind to them because I am so excited about the move in fact my whole family is. We keep saying 6 months or less.
Cortland- thank you for all the help that you are providing You are a fountion of information. Thanks for all the replies Stephanie and Terry |

Well CortlandGirl79 I appreciate everything that you have done. I do have more questions, but they are more about the day to day living. Like what are the highs in the summer, fall, winter, and spring? what are the low's like in the winter? How is the day to day type of life. What type of community projects like. I want to be able to help the community because I want to teach my kids to take pride in where they live and that they can help make someplace nice. I want to teach my kids that you have to give back and help out. I am 29 years old and my husband is 53 and we have researched alot of places and between the two of us we have lived in (me) Michigan, Colorado, Kentucky,(both of us) Florida (Terry) Delaware, West Virgina, and Ohio(Akron Ohio). So and what we have learned and what Terry has experianced we decided Ohio is the best place for what we want. The type of morals and values we want to teach our kids. So if you could tell me just about Ohio and what you can't find out through research, but only by experiancing it that would be great.

I guess day to day life depends on the person. I think my life is pretty good, but i suppose it depends on attitude. Could you be more specific? There are plenty of activities your kids could get involved with. Of course we have boy and girl scouts. How old are your kids?? Both Warren and Youngstown, along w/other areas have community clean up days. I remember picking up litter at mosquito lake when i was a kid.
