Any facts to back this up. How is Youngstown stuck in the 80s? New York is the most amazing city in the world, Youngstown never grew or had or has the history of New York, lol of course it is not going to be a New York.

gooch does appear to still be stuck in the youngstown mentality, even if makes more money in florida. he has a point about the people being stuck in the past, but is not the most articulate about his point.

000000 you are right..i did take the youngstown mentality with me..but im far from being stuck in the mid 80's...i recently came back to youngstown and i was sitting in some bar looking at people and asking myself..this is all people do in y-town..go to bars, well i grew out of that stage and im living wild and crazy down here in miami, lol, miami is a 3rd world country but their is many things to do instead of bar hoping...youngstown is a joke and since the sopranos everyone in y-town thinks they are tony soprano...its not 1945 anymore...anyhow im not wasting anymore time posting things,i have much more to do in my 3rd world country miami...

I strongly caution anyone moving to this area. I was recently in Youngstown and it was the most depressing area I've seen yet in the country. Most stores were shut down, it really did feel like the night of the living dead. It was just completely bizarre.
The suburbs aren't bad, but I wanted to get out of the suburbs quickly as well. Everything just felt bland, a little run down, and souless.
Of course, that is MY assessment. Take it for what it's worth.

For me, a better question is what is watchoverme looking for?
Having lived in many areas of the country, everywhere I go there seems to be good and bad things. You get people who love where they live and others that complain - so what?
gooch528 moved to Miami and loves it - great - you couldn't get me to even vacation there - but that's me.
Dull and boring suburbs sound like just what I'm looking for. As to shopping, back in October I had a business meeting at a restaurant on the Boardman/Canfield Road and there seemed like a ton of places to spend money.
Please don't misunderstand what I'm saying, I'm not knocking anyone's opinion, not intentionally anyway, but I am seriously interested in everyone's opinion.
Fire away...

I don't think he/she was looking for anything here, i was assuming they were visiting the area (perhaps for the holidays). I was questioning what areas he or she went to that were so "bland, a little run down, and soulless".
