Rocky Fork State Park
I know this can't be right, but I have heard that Rocky Fork Lake in Highland County is the cleanest lake in Ohio. Does anybody know if it is true or not?

Not sure
I'm really couldn't tell you for sure, but this link says that Apple Valley Lake has been said to hold this honor.

This is absolutely not true. Go look at it right now, I bet it's brown from all the run off from the farm fields. This has always been a huge problem. All the pesticides washing off the fields into the lake. I first went there in 1966 and back then it was over 100' deep at the dam now it's 35.I could go on and on. They use to dredge it, not sure if they still do. Paint creek is much cleaner and so is Ceasers creek. Not here to bash Rocky Fork, as I have several years of good memories there.I think if there wasn't so much run off it would be fairly clean.

At one time several years I ago I slipped a boat at Rockyfork lake. It was 2002 .We did this for two years . While spending summers there we swam and fished the lake .
In 2004 maybe 2005
My father in law sent me an article from the Columbus dispatch. This article made me move my boat from the lake. The article told of how bad the run off from sewage had damaged the lake and caused a very high level of e-coli. The run off is from the homes/cabins near and surrounding the lake. The sewers have been installed with in the past two years.. The lake is still being dredged sometimes. The health of the lake is getting better. The drift wood around the area is very nice if you like drift wood for crafting . Also a beautiful area to relax. Paint creek lake is also nice with a very nice horse shoe water fall in the feed water stream to the lake. In summer an excellent place to pick nick.

Rocky Fork Lake
Highland County and Hillsboro got in big trouble a couple years ago for dumping sewage in the lake, and the state let people build practically right on the lake.I have heard that are getting it cleaned up though.

I live about 20 miles away in Sabina, and have been there several times over the years boating and skiing, and yes it is very dirty, and overcrowed with people from all over, i'd try Paint Creek Lake, its cleaner, and not as crowded.
