Continued from "Agriculture in Youngstown debate" website with info
Hi Everyone...
I've been getting so many questions from different directions, I decided to put all of my information regarding "Backyard Farming", how our Agricultural plans fit in with the "New Youngstown" image, details regarding our zoning troubles, plus a few things that you didn't even need to ask.
Pour a cold drink, find a comfy chair, and open your mind to the idea of CHANGE!

That's an interesting website. You should email the Vindicator or local tv stations and try to get them on board. What about the university??? They might be interested as well! I hope it all works out for you!

I respect your opinion
Can you just explain more in detail of what the negative points are of having a horse, or some goats in areas that are within the city limits, but have a large enough lot of land to properly house and care for animals, or grow agricultural gardens. What would your concerns or worries be? I am interesting in this info so I can address the issue if it is a misconception of what agriculture really involves. Thanks so much.

Yes, but i believe it's on the edge of the city and on ten acres. Most city lots are not 10 acres in area.

i don't know, compared to a lot of the "eyesores" in Youngstown these days (i.e., crumbling, abandoned buildings & empty lots), a little green space would be delightful. as long as the place is well-kept (and DIOBLIZZ seems dedicated to making it look presentable and fitting into the city's 2010 plans), what would be the problem?
Youngstown has fallen greatly and this would be something at least the people could take pride in and maybe encourage the city to maybe add more green space to the area.
and samir_abdul, in NYC even (and i don't have the links off the top of my head, but google 'urban farming in New York City), they have said in some of the burroughs, mini-farms have really helped the community.
if anything, i would strongly encourage this kind of development with additional grants and investors and maybe a co-op of farms being created in maybe the next 5 years.
