Ohio is so diverse-if you want urban we have urban. If you want country, we have that too. Coming from Helena, I'm assuming you don't want urban. You might check out Wooster, which is about 30-40 minutes from Akron. Wooster has 25,000 popln, is the county seat and has a good school district and a well repsected liberal arts college. Other communities (all in Medina County which is the only county in the whole state to have every school district rated as "Excellent") : Wadsworth, Medina, Sharon Township, Granger Township.

meth is growing in ohio - but is about 1/100th of oregon's problem. summit county (akron area) has had a major meth crackdown, closing a lot of home cook labs.

medina is old hillbilly and new money. it was mostly farms 20 years ago, but most of those bean fields now are growing mcmansions (build to order half million dollar and up homes located a few feet from each other). it's an area of housing growth as people move farther from the suburbs. it's an exburb. if you're looking for a white town, medina has it all.

cuyahoga falls is one of the areas people are moving from. "caucasian falls" used to be a sundown town, so it's still pretty white. however, the town has changed quite a bit in the last 10 years. housing has become more affordable and the aging residents have been selling.

cuyahoga falls does have a commercial bakery downtown, so frequently the air smells like fresh baked white bread. that's probably my favorite thing about the place.

check out the akron beacon journal (ohio.com) and look for crime stats and police blotter stuff to get a picture of what's going on in these communities. i think you'd find medina to be a little better, or even the townships outside medina like sharon center.

i think you would like ohio. there isnt a meth problem here (yet) like there is in so many other places. and it is also very white here in most places.
it is very very safe in ohio.
