Might happen this year. With the economy the way it is. More people will travel further for jobs.

Everything you stated is a direct result of Atlanta not having many major cities around them. Within 2 hours from Cleveland you have about 6-7 major cities. Toledo, Detroit, Akron, Columbus, Youngstown, Erie, Canton, etc are anywhere from 25 min to 2 1/2 hr drive from Cleveland. From Atlanta... how many cities are within that vicinity?

I had a job a few years ago that required me to drive to Dayton and Columbus for meetings frequently.

It is not out of the ordinary for me to catch a quick trip on the freeway north or south to either Cincinnati or Columbus.

Oh I love Cleveland too .

Its just my job requires me to sometimes go from Cincinnati or Columbus. I am sure I would be doing the same if I lived in Youngstown/Akron/Canton. I know for a fact I would be in Cleveland for business.

I find it strange that Cincinnati and Dayton will be merged to a single MSA, but Akron and Cleveland remain separate.

Yes, especially since Cuyahoga and Summit are bordering counties, and theyve been connected for longer than Ive been alive. Their suburbs have been overlapping/mixed for years.

Not to mention that Downtown Akron and Downtown Cleveland are only 34 miles apart, while Downtown Cincinnati and Downtown Dayton are 54 miles apart.

It's all based on driving patterns. This is how the census comes up with the MSA's.

Cincy-Dayton would be a CSA now an MSA. It would be another decade of development between the two to be one MSA.

I am sure Cleveland/Akron will join again. Weird that they wouldn't merge them.
