Hi DandF, I live in Warren so i know that area pretty well. I'm not sure where you will be working, but hopefully it's during the day.
The area you are describing is considered the north-end of town. The area is full of large older homes many of which are historic. Unfortunately, time has not been good to this area. North Park is no longer a nice area, and i've heard there are regularly prostitutes and other undesirables in the area of N. Park and Atlantic as well as other areas including Washington. Unfortunately, this area of town has a lot of rental properties w/many of them being occupied by druggies, dealers, etc. You'll still find some nice old folks and low-income types, but there are bad people in the area.
My advice is to be aware of your surroundings and perhaps carry some mace or pepper spray. Now, i'm not saying it's the worst area of town, but it's far from nice.
Take a look at this map: warren ohio - Google Maps
I have walked alone in the area around courthouse square, mahoning ave and monroe st. as well as in the area around scott st. and n. park. I never felt unsafe there, but there were a few "shady" looking people around. The further north you go on N. Park the worse it gets, so Washington is not the worst. During the day i've seen many professional types as well as police officers in the area of N. Park, High, Porter and Scott St.'s. I also used drive down Washington to N. Park on my way to work in the morning (around 7am) and there was almost always a cop at the local Circle K (probably getting coffee), so there is a police presence.
If you want to see some picture of the area check out my http://www.city-data.com/forum/ohio/...ng-if-you.html The YWCA and the two large Victorian houses are on N. Park in the area between Scott and Porter St. along w/the J.W. Packard (the buckeye club) house and the Packard apartments. The Edwards house and the pink historical house above it area on Monroe. City Hall (the Perkins Mansion), the public library, and Upton house sit in on Mahoning in the area between Monroe and Washington.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask. If i don't know the answer i can ask a few cops that i know or my aunt's brother who is the building inspector.

Apartments in leavittsburg
Hi, my family's looking to move into an apartment in leavittsburg or braceville temporarily. Can anyone tell me which apartments are good? I am still looking to attend LaBrae High School, so I want to live in the district only.
Please reply.

Thanks pasharon for your info. I already attend LaBrae so I still need to live in the district. Again, thanks, and let me know if there are any other apartments in the LaBrae district.

I would say that area is very questionable. I don't know it super well, but i drive down N. Park quite often. douglas st. warren ohio - Google Maps
There's no way, as a single girl i would live there. Maybe if you're a single guy you'll be ok. I guess it depends on your tolerance for that type of area. I know recently a 90 yr old restaurant owner was murdered at his business on N. Park near Hall and Griswold. I also don't hear great things about Comstock or Roosevelt. I do have a g/f that lives on Packard about a block or two down from Mahoning Ave. Her neighborhood is nice enough. I think you might be a little safer if you maybe look into some apt's on on Mahoning like Packard Place (they're still not great, but probably a little safer. I used to work w/a girl who lived there. Are you from the area??? Let me know if i can help you w/anything else.

Thank-you ! My husband works for the company who owns the complex, although he works out of state we live in Ohio, and upon doing research found out about the complex in Warren. We so much want him to get a transfer but I don't want to put his life at risk if it is not safe. IGITO

I'm not sure his life would be at risk working there, but there may be some not so nice people in the area. I"m also sure there are nice low income and old people there. Unfortunately, Warren has a ton of rentals now and that causes a lot of the problems. Most crime is drug related, but w/drugs comes robbery. That's how that old guy got murdered. The guy that killed him was trying to rob his business.
If your hubby was just working there and you guys weren't living there i think it would be ok. If you lived there i would be concerned about a break-in if you went out of town.
Where do you live in Ohio?? Is it possible for you to drive to Warren and check it out. I grew up in the suburbs so what i think is scary might not be scary to someone else. That area is not the worst part of Warren, but it is no where close to the best.
BTW, you can always call the Warren Police Dept. and ask if there is any crime in the area. Their # is 330.841.2536
