Default Planning to visit Jennings, Elgin & more

I am planning a trip back to Ohio this year. I have been doing genealogy research now for several years and my father's family lived in Jennings township for 40 years....late 1800's. My gg grandparents and some of their children are buried in Wright Cemetery. I am bringing my mother back their with me and am planning on doing some research while there as well as visiting the cemeteries, and possibly an old homestead. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best place to stay....and other places to visit while there? I would like to find something for my mother to do while I'm busy with research...she's a young 70 year old! I haven't decided on May or June for the trip....any suggestions?

I am not personally familiar with Elgin and the immediate area, however we did live in the Celina area, just south of there for several years back in the mid 70's. Since we live in NW Ohio now and our kids live in SW Ohio, we go through that area everytime we go down to see them. Van Wert, Celina, and St. Marys are all close to that area and each have several hotels ( some local and some chain) and some nice looking B&Bs. When you are in the area, I would definitely try to check out the lake and canals of Celina/St. Marys area if you have time. There are some nice picnic areas and some historical sites relating to the canal, if you are interested in that stuff. You may have already checked this out, but here is a site about the Wright Cemetery - http://www.interment.net/data/us/oh/...ight/index.htm
I hope you have a nice visit this summer and hope you find all the information you want.

Here is a link with some accomodation information. http://www.vanwertcounty.org/cvb/info.asp?CatIn=Accommodations (broken link) Van Wert is about 15 miles north of Elgin and Willshire is about 16 miles west of Elgin. Hope you enjoy your stay.
