Moving to Ohio need advice
Hello Everyone,
It looks like I'm going to be moving from Los Angles, CA to Ohio very soon here. My work offered me a promotion and I jumped on the opportunity. I’m 23 years old and going to become a sales director for my company in Lockbourne, Ohio.
Now being a Cali boy I have no idea what I just got myself into… All I know is I’m 23 years old and this is a giant step on my resume and pay scale.
I will be making around $70k a year – I know Ohio is cheaper but, is this more then enough to live out there?
I like to be in-doors and I love cities and upscale environments.
I’m way into art and love music – I do graphic design and promote hip-hop shows in LA
Based off this where should I look into moving? (Work located in Lockbourne) I was afraid my car wouldn’t do well in the weather (2006 Honda Accord) so I was thinking something nearby?
What should I buy in CA and bring with me?
Last but not least how are the Women in Ohio (Come on I’m 23 and don’t want to be alone out there)!
Anything else anyone can help me out with, would be great!!

Lockbourne is a suburb of Columbus (biggest city in Ohio), but significantly smaller than LA. Grove City or Canal Winchester are probably your best bets as far as where to live, nice areas and close to your job.
You'll have plenty of time to do things indoors from about November - March as the weather is not very pleasant.
Your Accord will do fine in the weather there, I drove an older one in NE Ohio for a few years which got far more snow than CBus gets and I always felt like it drove pretty well and handled fine in the winter.
$70k/year is a great salary for that area, especially being 23 years old, you'll be fine - I assume you are going to rent something?
As for the women, there are lots of 20-something women in the CBus area as it is home to Ohio State - largest university in America - and many young professionals stick around after they graduate. So if you head near campus, you should have no problem meeting women.
The culture is quite a bit different from Southern California, so just be ready for a little bit of a shock when you first arrive. It's hard to explain, but just be prepared for some differences.

My work is going to be paying my first and last month rent so, for the time being I will be renting.
I'm going to check craigslist for Grove City or Canal Winchester now.

You'll be fine. My son is 24, and lives near Columbus. He's a graphic designer but his salary isn't nearly as high as what yours will be. He has enough money for his apt. rent, gym membership, new car payments, etc.
Lockbourne is rather small. I'd follow the other poster's advice with Canal Winchester or Grove City as a place to live. Canal is growing by leaps and bounds, but will still seem small to you. There should be plenty of apts. there.

Ohio Move
With your age.........you may want to actually consider living in Columbus and driving to work. Lots of fun, urban neighborhoods that would be great for a young professional.

Work just gave me the go home and pack speech- so it looks like I'm on my way! I didn't even get to pick a place to live, they told me HR is taking care of everything for me.

you will have PLENTY of money. Most famlies in ohio (with two parents working and kids to support) don't even quite reach your yearly income. There are a lot of women, quite a majority of Bi-sexuals, which most people don't mind. Ohio gals are very sensitive about their 'arm-flab' so just pretend it doesn't exist. We've tried everything to fix it but even the skinny chicks still have a little bit. People in ohio get PALE if they don't go tanning in the winter, so don't go blind lol. You will be in for a culture shock though.... oh your car will do fine, but you will have to learn how to drive in the snow.
