I voted no. I don't have anything against gambling or anything I just don't like the idea of our state constitution being turned into a post it note. Otherwise, I probably would have voted for it.

Out In Nowhere HUH
Out in the middle of nowhere is deter the negative affects it may have from prying (complaining eyes). If people know its there they will find it. As far as it not paying its taxes to Ohio, well thats hard to believe, but even if it was true its jobs and those people will pay taxes. It was a no loose situation for Ohio. And by the way I don't gamble, but I want to be able to CHOOSE to in my own state if I wish.

No, Ohio will never get a casino, this state has become the bible belt of the north. I'm very surprised the state went to Obama. I will continue until I move out of Ohio to go to casinos in other states as well as shop at their retail venues and give them my money instead of Ohio.

If they made another plan to bring casinos to Cleveland, Im pretty sure it will pass next time. Most the people up here that I know always vote for getting a casino. Its most likely people in other areas of the state that never vote for it.

See .. that's the problem. There were a number of people on this board talking that "Cleveland wasn't going to vote for this" because the last time Cleveland tried to get Casinos they failed and they wanted revenge on the people who voted against their area.
Until people in Ohio start acting like common members of a state, instead of upset juveniles in different cities/counties fighting it out. I am sure Casino gambling will NEVER come here.
Now I don't gamble, although morally I could care less what others do -- I did think in light of the fact that Wilmington is going to lose 5000+ jobs due to the DHL pull out that this might have been a great way to help them.
Also, while I believe the casino would have had to pay taxes on its Revenue, even if by some miracle of loopholes it wouldn't ... you would still have had 5000+ employees paying Ohio State Income tax. Plus there are usually taxes on casino winnings over a certain amount.
Anyway.. all the different areas of Ohio are too busy squabbling with one another to work together and get things done.
Sad.

I guess what confounds me is that we can't find a group of investors here in OHIO to develop a casino??? Why do we need someone with a questionable track record who lives in way out in Nevada to build us a casino? The Hoosiers next doors rejected several gambling measures put together by outsiders for developing a casino at French Lick and finally approved a group of Indiana investors to go ahead with the project. That would certainly ahve swayed me...

I would like to see any place in the state get a casino to start out, but the plan sounded kind of like a joke. And if the stuff in those commercials was true, I dont even know why we would consider doing it. Im very liberal and I do want a casino, but it did sound kind of stupid.
I didnt look at the whole plan, but if it would allow casinos to be built in any area of the state after that one was built, Im all for it. I liked the old plan that they had. If I remember right there were going to build 3 around Cleveland and either 1-2 in Columbus and near Cincinnati. Im biased towards Cleveland, but I really think we need it the most up here, Im all for Cincinnati and Columbus getting one also though.

It will pass when they can manage to get a better way of getting it around the government. They are coming back again, they already stated so. Ohio is a key player for casinos, and they want Ohio's money.

Sorry, but I felt it was very misleading to say that the casino would create 5K jobs. They would be able to fully staff that at about 500. I think they were fudging the numbers a bit and including every construction contractor that would help build and only reap temporary employment benefits from it.
I also, am not willing to see the constitution amended for one person's casino.
As for where I spend my money, mostly at the grocery store(I hate to shop) so that would be in Ohio.
