Ohio's cities and their snobbery need to wake up!
I am creating this thread to call a truce per se' ... and for a good reason.
Especially lately, people will come to City-Data looking for answers for their future residence. This site shouldn't be a make or break decision tool for their final say-so, but the information provided could sway someone, even if it's a small amount. We are all selling each other and being sold in everything we do in life.
An example would be a recent one comparing Cincinnati and Cleveland, because of schools.
Why do we feel the need to compare cities by tearing down the other? This is immature and it obviously spills into our daily lives. I've met people from other OH cities that go on and on about this and that compared to Cincinnati. Why the need? Is it an inferior complex? Is it because our natural 'feel good' sensors go off when we tear someone else down?
Making fun of or belittling someone else's city goes beyond making a statement ... it's insulting the other person's choice(s). It's telling them they are incompetent to make a well planned decision on where to live or raise their family. When looked at it from that angle it's a little more personal and causes a negative effect.
Let's stop with the bashing.
Another thing to consider:
VERY, VERY, VERY few states are in a position like OH is. We all know this is a great state and an important one at that. It's one of the oldest, largest, produced the most presidents, situated perfectly, houses many large cities, and for God's sake decides on who the president is!
Our larger cities are not all the same. They are all different and offer many different qualities. We should celebrate this and not find fault with it. Some people may like the vibe of one over the other, and that's ok. We are all different and have different personalities.
So, when someone creates a "VS" thread, maybe you might need to move on or ignore it? Maybe they the moderators need to shut them down? But whatever you do, why don't we try to respect our sister cities. We all make up this state, we should use the other sister cities in our defense to tell other people how great Ohio is because of them.

Yeah I noticed that too,it seems like alot of people seem to be bashing each others cities.Im from Cleveland and while it is my favorite city I don't go around bashing other Ohio cities.I haven't been to most of the other cities in Ohio(which is sad because I lived there for 13 years)but Im sure they have nice things to offer. And as Cincy-Rise siad there isn't very many states like Ohio.It has two very large metro areas(Cleveland and Cincinnati),one pretty large metro area(Columbus),then you have other pretty large areas with 500,000 or more people like Youngstown,Toledo,Akron, and Dayton. The only states that I think can compete with Ohio for the amount of big cities they have are California,Florida,Texas, and maybe New York.

OH MY GOSH.....talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
Cincy-Rise, who was it that just recently got all snide and condescending about Florence, Kentucky - stating it had "zero character"...? http://www.city-data.com/forum/4914500-post2.html
http://www.city-data.com/forum/5060363-post27.html
Unless you've changed your position lately, I can't for the life of me believe what you just said in this thread.
If you want the bashing to stop, you need to apologize to the people of Florence.

Furthermore, since you particularly stated:

...I hope you're ready to stop bashing people who live in West Chester and the other suburbs. I personally get fed up with having to defend myself and why I live here.

Alright, this thread was made to stop the posts above, STOP NOW! BTW, this is the Ohio forum, not Kentucky, this thread is about Ohio cities, not Kentucky cities or any other states for that matter.
Cincy-rise, GREAT THREAD! It is getting a sticky. Rep points for you for creating such an awesome thread.
I have been very busy lately, I just got accepted to a Cleveland firm, and it is awesome. I will be doing work all over Ohio and the nation. I am going down to Cincinnati on Sunday to get ready for the new construction of Cincinnat's new riverfront park, I will have my laptop and will get on while in Cincy for a week.
Ohio cities are embarking on an awesome future, and so much is happening in our cities. It is truly awesome. Just look at Cincinnati with The Banks, Cincinnati Riverfront Park, and Queen City Square.
Cleveland and the Flats East Bank, Euclid Corridor Project, and University Circle.
Columbus and The Arena District, new highrise condo boom. Ohio cities are changing, and changing for the better.
Now, lets keep this thread arguement free, PLEASE!

Cincy-Rise, Im sorry to say it, but you making this thread is a joke. I agree with aquila, I have seen you bash cities before, even when nobody said anything bad about yours.
Matter of fact, just a few days ago I saw you bashing Cleveland in a thread we were talking in. You said something like "Cincinnatis MSA is already above Clevelands, and the city population will be soon!" in a "snobby" way, degrading Cleveland, thats mature?, you should be ashamed of yourself. Thats just one example that I could use, even in that same thread I could mention more. Talk about being a hypocrite, and "snobbery"...look at yourself before you try to tell other people what to do.

Guys .... look at the very first line of this thread. Doesn't that imply that we currently have a problem and we should stop with the bashing? Calling a truce means that you are at odds, but no longer want to be.
Btw, Traveler, do you mind changing the thread title? "They're" needs to be "Their." Thanks!

So from now on does that mean newcomers who are inquiring about the Cincinnati area should only be given info for places north of the river...? Cincinnati and Northern KY market themselves as a region. We don't generally pay attention to the boundary between the state, because it's only a river. There is no "wall of Berlin" or barbed wire fence that differentiates between the states. And by virtue of the fact that Florence, Kentucky is a city in the southern Cincinnati metro area, I think what I said is valid.

As long as the city-bashing stops on the part of all people, and includes no longer bashing those who choose to live in the suburbs, then I'm all for keeping the forums argument-free.

Cincy-Rise, I'm all for us getting along. If you're stating that you've changed your position, then I will accept that.
I've already taken you off my "Ignore List".
