I went to the Italian Festival today with my family. It was really nice. We enjoyed the parade and my kids loved the rides. There was lots of good food!

We also past by the schools my children will be attending. My oldest son is really nervous now that he has seen how big Western Reserve Middle School is! It is twice the size of the middle schools here in Lorain.

Dawnie, congratulations on your move. Are you moved in and settled now? What do you think of that area of Warren now that you are there?

We are not moved in yet. I am waiting to hear from the realtor so we can close on the deal for our house. It should be no later than next week. We go to Warren every chance we get though. It seems to be a nice town.
Are you from Warren? If so, do you like it?

Thanks, I really appreciate your perspective. No, I'm not from Warren, I am from California and looking for a nice place to relocate to. I'm considering places in several states. I've heard tell to stay out of Youngstown for the most part, although I know about their 2010 plan and I think that's great. However it seems like Warren is doing better to hold its own. I'm looking at some properties not far from where you said your place was, so that's why I was interested to know what you think of that area.

Congratulations on your new place and I hope your move goes really smoothly and that you really love it there!

Please keep us posted too.

^I agree, i really like Youngtown's 2010 plan. Youngstown hasnt shed its negative image yet. Its just like Pittsburgh, it has changed so much and there is so much change going on, but it still has that image. The downtown has seen over a quarter of a million in new projects. And there are many more on the way. Youngstown's west side is not bad at all. Dont forget though that Youngstown does have some nice suburbs and its sister city Warren is great. Warren has a very nice downtown with fountains nice parks and is very clean. I would check into some suburbs like Niles, Hubbard, Poland, Boardman, Canfield, Columbiana, and Salem. Overall i like the Youngstown Metro area.

By West side where specifically are you referring to?

I read in the online editions of a few OH newspapers that the West and SW of Youngstown are really bad with gang violence (ie: Lucius, Avondale, Auburndale, etc.).
