Yeah, the Democrats claimed Taft needed to go because of "corruption" in his administration. So what did we get with the Democrats? More corruption, and worse! Unbelievable.

This is outrageous. A tax on groceries? Does any other state tax groceries? I hadn't heard of this before. I'm glad you brought this up.

Yeah, Obama will change things, all right. How do you like Socialism? If you think things are bad now, just wait.

No thanks. I like America the way it is. Capitalism is what gave us the highest standard of living in the world, and made us the richest country in the world as well.

Actually it would have been more than 8 years for Ohio, as we've had two GOP governors and the GOP is still controlling the statehouse.

You'd think Ohio would have had a better business climate since the GOP had quite a few years to set a pro-business policy agenda. Wonder why they screwed up?

From Merriam-webster online: SOCIALISM

1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

Please get your facts straight -there is a HUGE difference btw. Socialism (economic theory of sorts) and Communisim (government theory) and European Social-Democracies.

Thanks for the clarification, unfortunately die hard republicans can only spew lies that their media outlets (faux news, rush) brainwash them with. Personally, I gave up on them, it's a waste of my time to argue with somebody who has the mentality of a 4 year old!

It's amazing what changing a few choice words does to the above quote .... Unfortunately die hard Democrats can only spew lies that their media outlets (everyone but Fox News) brainwash them with. Personally, I gave up on them, it's a waste of my time to argue with somebody who has the mentality of a 4 year old!

Actually...

The SOCIALIST countries of Europe have been doing quite well. Last I knew, the Euro was valued higher than the American dollar. Socialism just means that those at the very top can splurge a little and contribute a few extra dollars for the "commonwealth" so that those at the bottom don't have to carry as hard of a burden.

Are you saying that those of us in the blue collar jobs don't have the right to live well (having my heater at 70 would qualify here), eat decently (mmm... ground BEEF, not turkey!), and enjoy our evenings after a long day at work... instead, we must cut back drastically, keep our thermostats at 60, drive less, and thrift shop for groceries? My husband and I make a comfortable living for our lifestyle. But with prices going so high, we're scraping. And don't get started on our health / medical expenses. We're covered under "very good plans" yet have to come up with several hundred dollars every year for stuff our insurance won't cover. Why is it we spend over $200/mth for insurance that wants to deny our claims? Or, because we're "blue collar" and if we want to survive "well" - we must work around the clock at several low end jobs or live with roommates to share the expenses. (roommates - see: socialism). And no, we don't have car payments or credit cards. Wow... to have a car with working AC... now THAT would be a luxury!

Capitalism has made America greedy and spoiled. The mentality is "I want MORE, MORE, MORE!! But... don't you dare tell me to give back to the community that helped me become successful!" We don't NEED $5K tvs, $2K car stereo systems, or $600K houses. That kind of lifestyle is glutony and over the top. But, what do I know... I'm just another blue collar worker who has watched job after job leave the US, watched MI become DEVESTATED, and am seeing my dollars cover less and less at the grocery store.
