I know its the real name, and Ive always found those names funny. Theres several others also (Madison-on-the-Lake, Geneva-on-the-Lake). Pretty unique to NE Ohio.

The Perry's of Ohio can be confusing. I grew up here: http://www.city-data.com/city/Perry-Heights-Ohio.html

I didn't realize that it was really called Perry Heights. I heard family call it that when I was a kid, but I just thought they got the name wrong.

I was raised in Mt.Gilead,Ohio...from 1954 to 1977...then moved to Florida.....but It's the place of all my fond childhood memories....I so loved it there....wish I could return...but my body just will not take that kind of "cold" anymore!!!!!!!!! I Just wish there could be a "renaissance of Mt.Gilead" and the Main street brought back to life the way it was when I was a kid.It was Such a great place to grow up!!!!

When I was a kid, I hated telling people from Mentor that I was from Mentor on the Lake, because everybody knew that the closer you lived to the Lake, the less money your family had (NE Ohio is one of the few places I know of where that it the case) - but I always took comfort in the fact that we were a half step up from the Mentor Headlands!

I was born and raised in Akron, I left in 2001. I miss my family and friends. I miss the football games. Great high school games on Friday Night, Buckeye games on Saturday afternoon, and Heartbrek and frustration...errr I mean Browns games on Sundays. I also miss Rockne's Pub on Baileys Road (LOOOOVEEDDD THAT PLACE!!) I miss the summer time going to Cedar Point and Geauga Lake. I miss Krispy Kreme on Maple Street. Granted it wasn't perfect, but it was home. I wish there were more employment oppurtunities there, that was the only reason I left. I have a great job here now, but it still isn't home. I sometimes wish a great oppurtunity would open up in Akron, so I could be close to my family, but I don't see that happening anytime soon

North Central Ohio aka Vacationland aka the North Coast aka the Firelands

I was born in Sandusky (way back in the mid 1980s haha) and lived there until I was 12 years old. My family then moved to southern Erie County, just 3 miles outside of Norwalk (Milan and Monroeville were equidistant as well). I lived in the Norwalk area until I was 21 years old. Then I moved to near Chicago, Illinois in 2006 to complete my degree, which I am about to graduate this May

Anyway, I guess I was always spoiled growing up in "Vacationland", having Cedar Point, Lake Erie, the Islands, the Beaches, and the historic New-England-feel to the towns, all in my backyard; the close proximity to Cleveland (as well as Toledo and Columbus) was nice too! Moving out of state made me realize how lucky I was to grow up in this part of Ohio; aside from Chicago, there really isn't too much going on in Illinois.

Anyway, I will always consider the Sandusky/Norwalk area my 'home' no matter where I settle down.
