I never contributed $346 to America Coming Together, yet my name is listed there and it lists my employer correctly so I know it is me. How could that info get put on there? I have never and never would contribute to this group!

If it didn't come out from a payroll deduction, there's a good chance that somebody at your place of employment is trying to get around the donation laws by using your name. Did you see the names of any coworkers on that list?

No, but I think it may have come from MoveOn.org. I joined that group around that time, not because I supported them, but because I was trying to get tickets to a concert. I was thinking the same as you - someone used my name to get around the campaign donation laws. There was another person who I don't know, who also "contributed" the same exact amount as me on the same exact day. Don't know that I can do anything about it. But I think it shows that a lot of these donation laws are being violated this way.

It sometimes happens that you might donate to what you think is a direct candidate and ends up on these groups. It has happened to me over and over, and it makes me mad, I think it should be illegal as I don't ever intentionally donate to PACs of any kind. Yet even candidates who claim not to use PACs, I have found, will use these groups for fundraising collection...kind of like the lightbulbs sold for persons with disabilities.

I have never even donated to any candidate. I can't afford it. I think they just are using my name without my permission.
