Default Moving to Boardman near Youngstown... so many questions!

Hi all. I am so glad I found this site! I am moving to Boardman, OH this summer. I will be finishing my degree at YSU and have already got a condo to live in, just south of 224.

I have spent a total of about 4 weeks out there in the last year and a half, so far I like it fine... and yes, I have been there in January.

My main concern is employment. Since I will be dedicating most of my time to school, I will probably only be working 25 hours a week. Minimum wage isn't going to cut it and I need health benifits. Any suggestions on where to look for a job? The fact that I am a History major doesn't really kick open many doors. Commuting to Pittsburgh, Akron, or Cleveland would not be out of the question, but it was something I was hoping to avoid.

Finding a decent job is going to be tough in this area. You really need to have a job skill to offer. The classifieds in the vindicator are full of nursing, and truck driving jobs. Not much else. There are many highly skilled workers in the area just waiting for the jobs to open up. Don't take it the wrong way, but Christie's is always hiring dancers. They put themselves through school, make a nice chunk of change and then move on.

Living in Boardman, you'll be able to jump on 680 and go straight to YSU. That's a plus.

The Job Market aside... anything I should know or be prepared for? California and New Mexico are like apples and oranges... Ohio seems pretty normal to me, but does anyone who has moved there from another state have any insight?
