These are the new crime rankings just came out a week ago. Im making a thread of this to show where all the cities and metros are at, and to see what everyone here thinks about it. The city rankings include every city in the US over 75,000 people (385+ cities included). And the metro rankings include nearly every metro area (338+ included), Higher scores=worse:

15. Youngstown-234.56
26. Dayton-171.29
28. Cincinnati-168.22
43. Columbus-138.05
46. Canton-133.36
64. Toledo-107.73
79. Akron-98.22
300. Parma-(32.75)
Ohio Metros: (most-least dangerous), score-(higher=worse, in parenthesis means negative/below national average, not in parenthesis is above national average):
67. Columbus-29.77
100. Cleveland-13.59
110. Toledo-10.33
132. Springfield-4.87
140. Lima-0.85

I was wondering that also. Not sure, its not included on the metros. Its not a population thing because there is much smaller metros counted. Its not on the un-included list either. Not sure.

Maybe they do not count (or report) their crime?

I guess Cincy's really cleaned up its act. The city appears to be safe for such a large city.

I have read many good things about Cincy. And another interesting thing would be to see the metro area crime rankings. The actual metro area is relatively safe compared to some places out west and south.

Well, just to throw in a little Cin-Day comparision
City
26. Dayton-171.29
28. Cincinnati-168.22
Metro
162. Cincinnati-(6.70)
167. Dayton-(8.65)
So, Cincy's got the slightly safer city, but Dayton has the slightly safer Metro area. Take your pick.
Overall though, Cincy and Dayton had pretty so-so scores. However, their metros were definitely some of the safest in the state.

I never thought it was that bad, and definitely not worse than Cleveland's. What's up with that?

It's because most of Cleveland's crime is located in the city. The metro is quite safe.
