If anyone knows of any independently owned and operated stores in Grove City (I'd like to start here, as it is my location) or Columbus (which is right up the road, and I am sure will have more options), please let me know. I really want to start supporting my community and... shopping at Wal-Mart is just unacceptable to me now. Small, hole in the wall specialty shops are great, bigger, local chains are fine too I guess.. I am really just looking for more community based places to spend my money. Please leave me names of stores, addresses if you know them, phone numbers are helpful, links to websites are good.. I need locally owned/operated grocery stores, clothing boutiques, misc. stores, really just everything. Help me please!

Grove City has plenty of local merchants. Head down to the Town Center area and just walk up and down the street. There are all sorts of neat little shops, restaraunts, pharmacy, taverns, coffee shop, beauty salons, pizza shops...you name it and it is there. There is a small grocery called Massenelli Market, but it sort of looks like the big dogs are running Massanelli's out of town.
The Historic Town Center is located on Broadway (US 62) in the old Grove City area. We live walking distance from the Town Center and love it. In the summer and fall there is a farm market every Saturday - local produce and other goods - and the city offers free entertainment in the way of bands and artists etc throughout the warmer months. We love Grove City and all it has to offer. All the "Grovetucky" stereotypes and comments are straight B.S.

North Market in the Short North is great for fresh food and various gift items. From there you can travel north on High Street and find just about any type of locally owned business/shop you can imagine. Anything from record stores to mens and womens clothing to hardware to antiques. Actually, High Street between German Village all the way up north to Worthington can take a couple of weeks to explore properly and can be some of the most fun you can have in the city.
