Boardman certainly does not have the best school system out of the 4 listed, if you just want to state the facts. That would go to Canfield and Poland. Last I heard Canfield was the 13th best high school in the state of Ohio, Poland was 14th, and Boardman was somewhere in the triple digits.

It's on Glenwood, which is the only bad thing about it. Glenwood is an extremely busy street (in fact, my dog already got hit by a car...he's okay, don't worry!), but we have a 3/4 acre backyard, so it's all good. Glenwood isn't loud, just a lot of traffic. And so far we love living in Boardman. Yes, it is congested but we're only 5 minutes from EVERYTHING!!!! Where we lived in Indiana, we had to drive 45 minutes to Indianapolis to get the kind of shopping, restaurants, etc. that we can within 5 minutes here. We love our house too. It suits us perfectly! Thank you all for your advice and suggestions! If there are any suggestions for good restaurants (we're trying CasaRamirez tonight), don't hesitate to post them!!!
I bet we're practically neighbors... we live on Ridgewood. My DH is a YSU prof (biology) too. Welcome to the area!

Restaurants: Saigon Pho on South Avenue (across from Lowe's) -- wonderful! There's a Middle Eastern place, Aladdin's, near the corner of South Avenue and 224. MVR in downtown Ytown is great Italian. And a fantastic take-out taco place on Market Street (south of 224, in a strip plaza with an Eat N Park) is Casa De Tacos.

Enjoy!

I've been moved away for years but there was a place called "Johnnies", I think on Midlothian in Struthers or far southside of Y.? Fabulous fine dining.

Welcome to Y-town..... My wife also works at YSU. We live in Boardman.
Out of all the area (burbs) we found that Boardman had the most to offer.
We have lived in Boardman for the past 30+ years. I have never regretted it once. There are many reasons we like where we live. Mostly the neighborhood and neighbors.

Both of our kids went to Boardman schools and as parents, had no complaints about the schools or teachers. They also have the best music program of all of the townships.
There are plenty of very nice homes in the township at fairly reasonable prices.

Good luck to you
