Or ... maybe the Y Bridge is really an arrow, directing aliens to Hangar 18 at Wright-Patt in Dayton ...

Hmmm...guess I'll have to be on the lookout for black helicopters overhead when I'm there next time! Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta adjust my tinfoil hat here...

That whole stretch of 33 thru my hometown was such a pain in the butt before the 33 Bypass. Some of those stoplights aren't even 500 ft. apart! And they're never synchronized for good traffic flow. It still gets hectic thru there even today, but at least now the folks en route to Logan or Athens have a fast, scenic alternative.

Unfortunately, because I'm on a dedicated account now, I only make it as far East on 33 as that Michigan-based superstore with the silent "j" and Anchor Hocking. Sigh... (BTW, Coonpath Road is a LOT of fun at night when I'm not pulling a trailer; rolling hillls... )

Haha! I know just where that is. The "Meijigan" store is very new since I lived there; I've actually never been in it. I can recall a time when that Best Western (just further into town past the mall) which was then a Holiday Inn, was the LAST thing you saw before 25 mi. of farmland, heading to Columbus.
And yeah, Coonpath Rd. is great! Really cool S-curve in a big valley, just east of Election House Rd. And if you follow Coonpath all the way east, there are some wild curves & beautiful country as you approach the little towns of Rushville and W. Rushville. Definitely better in a sports car than in a truck though

Sigh...I've only done Coonpath at night from 33 to SR 37 when we go to or come from our Newark store. (And ya haven't lived until you've been on roads like those around Lancaster in a truck with a good air-ride cab and driver's seat! I'm sure 33 will someday look like any major route in Columbus...

I am new to this site and decided to look at the ohio comments. I was surprised to see something about Zanesville. Its a place you'll either like or dislike. I grew up in Zanesville, then married and moved to Germany for five years. Then hubby and I were stationed in Indiana and we moved to Cincinnati, ohio where I lived for another 10 years. In 1995 I moved back to Zanesville. Some things had changed and other things had not. But its where all my family and friends live.
I think our judicial system stinks and people here act like we're some big time city. The wages stink and Maple avenue is a terror. But I live here because I am used to it all.
There's good places to live on the south side and the North side. Your going to find crime no matter where you live. Oh yes there is an abundance of stores, restarants, fast food heaven, the mall, Northpointe, lowes, and other stores all jammed on Maple avenue, because if anything new comes in, the city gets it on that side. Not that anyone on the south side minds because all the congestion stays there. There are nice homes on Potts Lane, Pickerington Road, Greenhouse Road, Juanita and in the Avondale area. Plus Darlington Road just got a new subdivison with nice homes. It depends what you want or should I say how much you want to pay.
If I go shopping I would much rather drive to Lancaster then fight the traffic on Maple anyday. Or go to New Lexington to Krogers.
I'm used to the hillbillies, heavy metal dressers, ghetto dress and wouldn't have any other way. If you like the slow pace you'll be okay.

Such a fate may be unavoidable. From the traffic perspective, it's probably reached that point now. But... unlike any major route in Columbus, you can still stop in for some good Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips on old 33 in Lancaster

OhioJam: thank you very kindly for the info! I'll have to check those areas out.
It's good to have your perspective on all this, esp. since you live there and can address the good points as well as the the bad ones. And yeah, there's no such thing as a perfect town anywhere. Cities and towns are made up of human beings and, well...we're imperfect!
In any case, the slower pace you mentioned is tremendously appealing to both of us. We are sick of city life...always running around stressed, sitting in traffic for long periods of time, dealing with self-important yuppies, etc. From what we've seen of Zville so far, it's really cool! Definitely more our speed, and reminds me alot of where I grew up
Take care,
"Lanc"

Love Arthur Treacher's! But I sure miss the Tim Horton's in Canal Winchester that closed. (Had truck parking) I deliver at night and Tim Horton's (as most drive thrus won't serve pedestrians at drive thru windows. And my big truck won't fit in the drive thru
