I've visited to Bryan, in Williams County west of Toledo, quite frequently -- college roommate lives there. It's a typical, idyllic little county-seat town.
But I've never been to Montpelier ... Maybe next summer when I'm in Bryan.
Bowling Green is a college town south of Toledo, home to Bowling Green State University, if you're in to that sort of thing.

Waterville is in NW part of the state and is between Bowling Green and Toledo, as well as about 35 minutes from the Michigan line. I grew up in Waterville and still have friends there....nice parks, parades, festivals, small shops, and tree-lined streets with sidewalks. It is truly the proverbial Americana small town - well actually it's considered to be a village. Right now, with the housing prices so low, there are really some good buys on very nice homes for under $200,000. Google it and check it out.
Oh yes, and the schools are excellent - Anthony Wayne School District.

Family oriented, etc. I also want it to be like 30 minutes from a city because I do want the occasional hustle and bustle of the city as well as a job, lol. A good country town where I can get a nice big house with a porch swing and a garden.
Any suggestions?

Well, another thing, besides living near Michigan, you didn't really give us any background info.... Are you moving for work? Or are you not worried about the job aspect? That might be a factor too. If you don't mind my asking, where are you moving from?
