Small Town Suggestions
I want to move to a small town in Ohio. But I have requirements for the small town. I have a 10 month old son, he'll be older when we eventually move, but I want a small town that everyone is friendly and close. It may not be realistic, but I'd love a small town where people are close. Neighborhood cookouts, good friends, all that. Family oriented, etc. I also want it to be like 30 minutes from a city because I do want the occasional hustle and bustle of the city as well as a job, lol. A good country town where I can get a nice big house with a porch swing and a garden.
Any suggestions?

I would venture to say that every city, big and small, in ohio would have a little town like that w/in 30 minutes. Maybe narrow it down to which cities you like and we can tell you which small towns are like that.

I agree...which part of Ohio would you prefer? Near Cleveland? Cincy? Give me an idea and I will share my two cents, for what it's worth!

Cleveland or Cincinnati for sure. The Columbus suburbs spread out too far for there to be any separation or noticeable difference.

you will either have to spend a lot of time in each and neighborhood that you are considering and get to know every individual neighbor before moving in, or time travel back to the 1950's (this still might not work). there is no small town that is going to live up to your current demands. the problem is not ohio, it is a mixture of human behavior and current american society. really any country town in ohio would work if you lower your expectations. maybe one outside of toledo so that you can be closer to michigan.

Lol, I know. I just listen to too much country music. It ruins things sometimes.

there is nothing wrong with knowing what you want, so long as you realize that it isn't always possible if it requires the consent of other people. hahaha. southern ohio listens to country music more than northern. in that case, cinci might be alright.

There are many small towns around here that have a lot of friendly residents, although most seem to respect your privacy especially until they know you want the activity. We have people walk by a lot and will visit as they go by, either stopping or not, depending on how serious they are about their walking. We are about half way between Toledo and Ft. Wayne, about an hour either way, and only 10 miles from the Michigan line. Oh yeah ... 2 of the 7 radio stations in the surrounding 4 county area are strictly country.
