Thinking about moving to Chillicothe
Anybody have any opinions/experiences about this city? Do some residents commute to Columbus for work or do most of them work in Chillicothe? Thanks..

I attended to the Recording Workshop Music School in Chillicothe for seven weeks. Once I went to a concert in Columbus. Columbus is at least an hour away commute from Chillicothe. The city itself seems industrious enough to offer local employment incentive, though I think you could make more in a larger city like the state capital, (Columbus). If you are looking for a relatively quiet regional area with a large city to provide the needs for living and consumption, and you don't mind the commute to Columbus, this would seem to be an ideal situation. However, if you are primarily looking for a job in Columbus, I would suggest moving to one of it's more immediate suburbs, or the city itself, which is not bad.

Chillicothe offers a more laid back atmosphere then Columbus. There are quite a few commuters and car pools available. I would highly recommend looking at Chillicothe as your new home.

I personally love Chillicothe, it has small town appeal and still a lot of variety. Yes, a lot of people do have to commute to Columbus. Depends on type of work you do. There are a lot of restaurant and store jobs. But not much in the way of factories. Just Kenworth and Paige (used to Mead) and they hardly ever hire. Now if you are in the medical field, there are a lot of openings.

About 60 bad 40 good
I lived there for two years. Economy is pretty much based on Wal-Mart. It's a beautiful area geographically but culturally, economically and educationally it's pretty much up to you to make it work. Yes, many people travel (some as far as Cinci.) for work. It's very laid back and I made many good friends there. I enjoyed the general attitude of the people I met. Scioto state park is nearby and I really loved going there whenever I could. Real estate is good but trying to sell a home there is a job for the interminably patient.

Chillicothe is a nice smaller city. There are actually two other Chillicothes in Missouri and Illinois and i think Chillicothe, Ohio is the only one of the three that is growing. There is a nice small town atmosphere with alot of nice scenery nearby. With some Nat'l parks nearby also. And Columbus isnt too far of a drive away either. If i had the chance i would probaly move there.

Thanks for all your replies. I also wanted to know, does Chillicothe have any problems with illegal aliens? I ask because where I live now, we have a HUGE problem with them and the local taxpayers have to foot the bill for all the services that they require. I really don't want to move to a city that has alot of them. Has Chillicothe been inundated with them yet?

Chillicothe is the only place where I have met a man who claimed to have lost all of his teeth because he spilled gas in his mouth and tried to smoke a cigarette.
I am not kidding.
Does the papermill still stink the place up?
