My impressions of the 3Cs and the other two big cities of Ohio:
Cincinnati - dense, fine people, incredible architecture, interesting topography, just plain gorgeous
Cleveland - less dense, amazing nightlife, lots of hometown pride, very "Americana" in the suburbs.
Columbus - new, boring, safe, cookie cutter for the most part with a few interesting neighborhoods, probably the best place to raise a family of the 3 if you're into suburban-style living.
Toledo - Down, but not out, good suburbs with an urban core that I can only hope has an upswing soon, the signs of one are beginning to show! Good bang for your buck, lovely people.
Akron - Spent the least amount of time here, but the people I know from Akron are some of the most swell I've met, ever. The city itself has lots of nice, older neighborhoods and the suburbs aren't too cookie-cutter and bland to write-off.

Culture: Cleveland, Cinci in close 2nd
Nightlife: Cleveland, hands down
Safety: Columbus
Architecture: Cincinnati
Economy: Columbus
People (my own opinion, as with all of these): Akron/Cleveland tie
Sports: Cleveland for pro, Columbus for college-level
Food: Cleveland, due to the MANY ethnic options available
Dating: Cleveland, though the only "10" I've ever seen was from Toledo

Not to say any of the ones that didn't get a pick from me are bad, I love Toledo! I love Akron! I love Cbus! I love Ohio! I love the entire state.

The skyline of Cbus is so spread out though, there's no real density or even a real reason to build high rise buildings if you're not aiming for compactness. I still think Cinci and Cleveland tie for skyline... While Cleveland has Key Tower, in all its' splendor... Cincinnati's downtown density and the architecture make it a very tough competitor!

I see Columbus' skyline coming together though. With all the development in the Arena District, and even more over towards the new Franklin County courthouse, I am really interested in what the skyline will look like in 20 years.

Yeah, with Columbus's growth, things will be interesting. Let's just hope they aim for infill rather than to keep the current path.

I agree, but I see a different path already being taken. There already is a lot of investment in the city core, and new neighborhoods are developing too. Columbus is already in a good position that most faster growing cities in the county don't have, and that is dense urban and attractive neighborhoods right next to the city's CBD.

i am in the minority regarding the skylines of the 3-c's. i like height, so imo i like cbus over cincy. however, total highrise buildings in cbus is only 80 compared to cincys 120 and clevelands 124. i dont see cbus building 40 more highrises while cincy and cleveland build none. btw-cleveland will be breaking ground on new 22 story building in the wharehouse/east bank of the flats.
